I notice there is no tick mark for abiogenic petroleum origin hypothesis in the poll.
Just sayin.

VS,

That's probably because it's not that relevant. If we assume oil is created abiotically, unless the rate of creation of oil increases over time, which is unlikely, peak production (which is what the Peak Oil process describes) would still be valid. So while the reserves would be "unlimited" we would still reach a maximum rate of production.

A different poll would ask "What oil production hypothesis do you believe?"

LMAO @ Pockets.

Peak Oil = Peak daily Production as measured in BBD. This is not a discussion about reserves. We already know we can’t sustain the BBD number long term. It’s only a matter of when daily production can no longer be sustained. I think we’ve already seen it.

Econ 101 says price is set by supply and demand. To argue over what the price will be assumes the demand will stay where it is or grow and that you can forecast supply. I strongly believe future supply will trend down but I have no clue what will happen to demand as I fully expect this to be a 10-20 year depression in most developed worlds.

Everyone I know in the oil biz is invested in oil sands or heavy oil.

That's enough for me.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

KEEP AWAY FROM SU!!!!

There are a bunch of co's: CNQ is ok, etc. That's a whole new thread.

I personally am a degenerate gambler and have bet a LOT of IVAN (ivanhoe energy). It's most likely a stock most here would avoid.

That is what I was trying to convey in my response to VS. That's why I said: "That's probably because it's not that relevant" when referring to the abiotic theory.
