Gen, fantastic Ticker!
I am committed to voting for fiscal responsibility, I may be a liberal, but reality is reality.
If I had a republican candidate to vote for who didn't say much about gays and abortion, it would be a lot easier to "switch teams" for a few elections. As it is, I'll have to grit my teeth.
In fact, the biggest problem I would have with voting significantly more conservatively in general for the rest of my life is that there are so few to choose from who don't pander to what I see as bigotry.
I try to see things from the socially conservative point of view, and find a way to make some of the stuff they are against make sense...in the end, all I see is fear, and following someone else ideas about what is right and what is wrong because most people are too afraid to decide for themselves.
I can have respect for tradition, and values. I can't respect fear.
