California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger predicted that President Barack Obama will win re-election in two years, especially if the Republican Party re-takes control of the House of Representatives in the November midterm elections.

"I assume that Obama will get a second term in office," Schwarzenegger said in an interview with DER SPIEGEL, the German news magazine. He said he doesn’t believe the GOP will succeed in finding a viable candidate who can beat Obama in 2012.

...I think if you can fog up a mirror....you can beat Obama in 2012. When this economic **** storm unwinds further...which it seems like it's doing now....his bull**** xcuse of blaming Shrub will fall on deaf ears... especially since he's basically followed in the footsteps of shrubs (lack of) economic policy by sucking banker dick.

You underestimate the MSM, and their various other tentacles (schools and higher education).

You also underestimate the stupidity of the Republicans.

I think personally this country will basically become a leftist autocracy, however, the one bright spot will be people will finally lose faith in the system.

You need an autocrat for that, not a bankster stooge and political puppet.

I mean we will still have "elections", however, it will be one party winning all the time.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Arnold's correct on this. The Repubs, by winning in 2010, are setting up the Obama win in 2012.

First, there is nothing the Reps will be able to do that stops the spiraling deficits which will bring on the collapse (unless they can manage a veto-proof majority in both the House and Senate, which is extremely unlikely (even if they did, I don't think they'll impose the cuts necessary to solve things, but that's another discussion)).

Second, the MSM will continually harp on the "fact" (as espoused by Obama) that the Repubs are responsible for starting this mess and, by being in the majority, are responsible for the continued deterioration in the next two years. Hell, a lot of people currently believe the claim that Republicans are obstructing Obama's "solutions" even though they're in the minority. Even though we recognize the MSM for what they are, the large majority of voters still use no other source for their news and political info.

Third, IMO, the Repubs have no candidate of any national stature and/or credibility in the wings who is not "tainted" in some way.

Unless the Repubs by some miracle find someone credible (or someone finds pictures of Obama screwing an underage goat), I'd say the odds favor a Dem candidate in 2012 if the Repubs achieve majorities in Congress in 2010.

Ding ding ding.

Also, the only house of Congress that I can realistically see the Republicans gaining is the House. The Senate though will simply see the Dem majority reduced.

Our next thing is to figure out what Obama's agenda will be once he does not have to worry about re-election....

Agreed that the Repubs have no candidate at this time but it is not uncommon for a candidate to emerge.

Just as long as it isnt Palin.

^^ Agreed Bezzle. But at the end of the day who can the repubs really run? Romney? Palin? The Repubs really don't have to much to work with right now that wont be slammed down as hypocrisy.

"But at the end of the day who can the repubs really run?"

I think the Republicans should simply run a milquetoast candidate, someone that they know might not win, but at the same time, not embarrass them.

They should instead in 2012 focus on increasing or holding onto their Congressional gains from 2010.

chrono - 2012 for the GOP will have to be like 2008 for the dems. it has to be a top down ticket unfortunately

i would only vote for Ron Paul or maybe Chris Christie depending on how NJ looks as i would rather him stay home

all the rest equals a wasted vote

he wont get re-elected

i remember 94 well, 2010 is much worse. much more hatred

only if he forgives everyone's mortgage debt will he get re-elected...fannie and freddie have done 95% of the mortgage loans in the last 5-10 years so theoretically he can do it

"he wont get re-elected"

I only see idiots and/or tainted RINOs lined up for the GOP presidential nomination.

I agree with the Governator.

I was just thinking about this very thing this morning.

If the Republicans win a landside this year and they DO NOTHING with that mandate
Obama will win a second term... especially if the Republicans recycle old has been
presidential candidates... if they do that I may vote for Obummer myself.

eagle - if he crushes the public employee unions in NJ then he will ride a magic carpet to DC with the expectation of doing the same to the federal government

however i think that is his only issue. no new taxes/cut spending which is fine. but he would need to dismantle most of our empire and sign off on an audit of the fed; end SS and welfare and medicare/medicaid as well

i only trust ron paul to do everything that needs to be done. everyone else will only slow the collapse

I believe that Christie is a non-starter for the Rep rank-and-file because he is in favor of amnesty for illegals.

I don't consider myself R rank and file, however - I am against amnesty.

Even so, I would vote for Christie - if that's the only negative I wouldn't give a ****.

Also, there is a very good chance that Christie won't get re-elected. Heck, Christie only got 5% more of the vote over Corzine, who was prior to becoming a corrupt slimball politician, was the president of GOLDMAN-SACHS.
