I disagree - they should (the officials that is)...it would be a quick way to get rid of stupid laws while making sure that the people running for office or deciding they're going to enforce the laws are - how do I put this - HONEST?

There is absolutely NO motivation to clean up old laws put in by STUPID people when the people that represent us or enforce the laws have nothing to fear from them. Give them something to fear damnit, and things will start to change.

this would be wielded, almost by definiton, all politics. Adding extreme power to a corrupt system down't tend to fix it, but instead to favor those most willing to abuse it. As I said, it'd crowd out sensible people.
