Glenn Beck had a message for haters on Wednesday: He isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

The conservative commentator was back on the radio after a two-day hiatus due to health problems, and kicked off his show by letting "about half of the country" know that "much to their chagrin, I am not dying."

Beck, who told fans last week that he was having serious medical issues with his hands, feet, and vocal chords, took Monday and Tuesday off to undergo a battery of tests in Utah.

"I started my day yesterday at 7 o'clock in the morning getting needles stuck in me and having electric current run through," he told listeners on Wednesday. "It was nonstop."

The Fox host, who released a detailed video for fans last week explaining his mysterious symptoms, assured everyone on Wednesday he does not have cancer, lupus, or MS.

He says doctors discovered that roughly half of his vocal chords have gone into a form of paralysis, which they believe is caused by a virus.

Though the exact diagnosis of Beck's health problems remains unclear, he was happy to joke about the severity of the tests doctors put him through.

For one test, which involved radiation, Beck deadpanned that doctors advised him, "Don't worry about it, it's really only about as much radiation as people received at Nagasaki.

In a posting on his site TheBlaze.com, assistant editor Jonathon Seidl reiterates Beck's ailments "are not life-threatening."

Despite his condition, the famously brash pundit was in typical fighting form on Wednesday, even sneaking in a few digs at the Big Apple.

"After having someone take a little hunk of your flesh, give you electric shocks, and then put you into a room with radioactive isotopes," Beck said, "it was still better than waking up in New York City."

I just cut out the bulk of the "bad stuff" I've been drinking, including any man-made sweetener in my coffee (I'm using one of the Stevia products now) and when this batch of diet soft drinks are gone, I'll have to think of some kind of replacement. Water alone does get awfully boring.

Seriously, most of the crap we consume on a daily basis is poison...I hardly know what is safe to eat anymore.

Bailout, you gotta admit the guy brings a lot of this grief on himself by being such a whiny crybaby.

OK yeah so he's latched on to something of an odd technique to get attention. But the corruption he's exposed and the inspiration he's instilled....
He's like Cramer but not evil and not oligarchy; and political rather than financial.

Ice water. Occasional fresh cranberry juice if it's available, or any other tart juice that is available fresh (not manufactured and put in a bottle with who knows what).

this is what i've done after i quit drinking soda. i've had a few lapses but hey...

That's what lemons and limes are for. And tea. Also, I travel a lot, and it's amazing how often hotel breakfast bars charge insane prices for orange juice when oranges are out for free and better for you.

Could he have Guillain-Barré Syndrome? I've known a couple of people with this and it paraylzes muscles for a short period of time (ie half the face in both cases). They both recovered. Haven't heard from either of them about long term side effects.

What is Guillain-Barré Syndrome?
Guillain-Barré syndrome is a disorder in which the body's immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system. The first symptoms of this disorder include varying degrees of weakness or tingling sensations in the legs. In many instances, the weakness and abnormal sensations spread to the arms and upper body. These symptoms can increase in intensity until the muscles cannot be used at all and the patient is almost totally paralyzed. In these cases, the disorder is life-threatening and is considered a medical emergency. The patient is often put on a respirator to assist with breathing. Most patients, however, recover from even the most severe cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome, although some continue to have some degree of weakness. Guillain-Barré syndrome is rare. Usually Guillain-Barré occurs a few days or weeks after the patient has had symptoms of a respiratory or gastrointestinal viral infection. Occasionally, surgery or vaccinations will trigger the syndrome. The disorder can develop over the course of hours or days, or it may take up to 3 to 4 weeks. No one yet knows why Guillain-Barré strikes some people and not others or what sets the disease in motion. What scientists do know is that the body's immune system begins to attack the body itself, causing what is known as an autoimmune disease. Guillain-Barré is called a syndrome rather than a disease because it is not clear that a specific disease-causing agent is involved. Reflexes such as knee jerks are usually lost. Because the signals traveling along the nerve are slower, a nerve conduction velocity (NCV) test can give a doctor clues to aid the diagnosis. The cerebrospinal fluid that bathes the spinal cord and brain contains more protein than usual, so a physician may decide to perform a spinal tap.

I drink a ton of water...can't stand cranberry juice...most "juices" have too many carbs...and usually have other bad things in them.

Lemon-water and lime-water might just as well be plain water. After a while, they're all very boring. I don't really like tea very much either.

So, juice is out, tea is out and flavored water is out.

Oh, and the milk idea is out too...think of when you'd want a soda...odds are you wouldn't think milk would make a good substitute at those times.

The above is why we consume so many carbonated "diet" beverages in America in the first place, and the core of my dilemma.
