So, I've been toting this converter around for years for several reasons.

#1 I knew it was worth some money.
#2 I can't throw money away like some people can.
#3 I can't seem to hook up with the people that buy the damn things.

So, I combined a trip today - Go watch a 5K that I participated in last year. The weather was perfect, but I wasn't willing to pay $19 for it this year. Plus go to St Joseph where I go crazy at my discount grocery store, stop and recycle some stuff and of course, take the dogs to some good running spots.

The guy could have given me $10 for it and I would have been satisfied because I was sorely tired of toting/storing the damn thing around. But get this, he was an honest, small businessman. He gave me the going rate for that particular CC of $90. I was shocked. Good things don't often happen to me.

So no wonder you have thieves running around cutting converters off peoples cars. Expect it to happen a great deal more often. The copper thieves will move on up to platinum. They will run around with lightweight, speed jacks and have your converter off in two minutes.

Its called creeping TEOTWAWKI. Just because it doesn't happen all at once doesn't mean it isn't happening.

Hmmmm.
I've got 2 dead cars here destined for the crusher, both have cats.
So I should cut them and take the cats to a scrap dealer or ?

Here's an auction I just ran on ebay for gold CPU chips. I'm trying to find out whether I got skinned...but I am NOT going to get involved with the acids and fumes involved with metals refining, and those that do...they need to make some money. There is a frenzy for precious metal scrap of all kinds and IMO it's an advantageous time to sell.

This stuff we're going through, this is nothing compared to the Middle Ages.
They told me if I voted for John McCain, an idiot would be a heartbeat away from the presidency. Sure enough...
