I am speechless.

Also, they didn't take into account another couple hundred dollars a month in food stamps. Plus the money they'd save on driving to/from work and any other work necessities (uniforms, suits, cleaning). Wouldn't they also be eligible for medicaid?

It doesn't make sense why anyone making less that 60-70k, and has a mortgage, keeps working?

A bit of a dodge when the major assumption is that there are TWO earners and BOTH get FULL UE for the same OVERLAPPING time period. It could happen but not nearly as often as they imply. They imply anyone can do it by choice or planning. Perfect image of the leech**** from certain audiences, sort of like welfare and as mentioned food stamps. Remember, you have to get laid off to collect, not quit, not fired for cause. Face it, these guys are *******s trying to push an agenda. Just more BS from the usual ideological barkers.

Yes, just "*******s" but Mrgone you have "an agenda" too, the difference is these guys have the courage to put their agenda out for everyone to see, you on the other hand cannot since the vast majority would reject your crazy agenda outright so you have to hide your agenda like most leftist until you get a wingnut like Obama use presidential edicts to force it on us.

Perhaps, but then again, perhaps not. As America gets the full on view of the choice we will have to wait and see what gets rejected won't we.

Oh, just so you know, not that anything would be enforced in this direction, personal attacks are subject to restrictions and/or banning outside of a few selected areas on TF - LOL. But I suppose that's your point eh? Your agenda is good and righteous while other's are evil. Like I said, we shall see.

Isn't the 99 weeks UE over with? If you are UE starting now, do you qualify for any of the special recession extensions beyond the 29 weeks? (since the recession is over, ya know).

Everything rolls back to 26 weeks on 1 Jan 2012.
So just like the Mayan calendar, 2012 is the end of the world for some.

Wouldn't they also be eligible for Medicaid?

No. Nor would they be eligible for food stamps. There are income limits, and with two UE checks they would most certainly go over. Likely one UE check coupled with the credit for free housing (if you move in with your parents even, credit to income is applied, I've seen $500 credits but they may go higher, I worked with poor people) would also put them over the top for both benefits.

Also asset limits and you have to be pretty damn poor to qualify for Medicaid and SNAP.

Is the median price still that high, did they say $222K? Around Mpls it's fallen to around $160K, I believe.

In illinois you just lie and they give it to you. The feds just barred illinois from checking into your status for medicaid.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has blocked a state law designed to eliminate potential fraud in Illinois' Medicaid system by requiring recipients to prove they live in the state and have low incomes.

MSNBC: Federal Government Blocks Medicaid Bill
The Federal Government has blocked an attempt by the Illinois General Assembly to eliminate potential fraud in the state's Medicaid system. Last year, the General Assembly passed a bipartisan bill which required Medicaid recipients to show they had low incomes and were residents of the state. Those changes were to go into effect July first of this year. The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services objected to the Illinois reform measures ... and blocked them from taking effect. "We think the reforms would generate almost 800 million dollars in extra financial strength for Medicaid to take care of Illinois residents. That's why we were so surprised when the federal government over-rode the bipartisan reforms," (said) Republican Senator Mark Kirk (7/18).

That's nuts......

It has always been left up to states to administer Medicaid. After all, they come up with half the funding.
