Also got a dryer to go with our new washer (about a year old, SO wanted to stack them so we've got more room in the laundry), and a new range with a convection oven.

Most money I've spent in one day in.... ****. Since I bought my car 7-8 years ago.

Samsung dryer (almost half price), needed to get samsung so we could mount it on top of the one we had. Didn't pay anywhere NEAR the price shown here: http://www.samsung.com/us/appliances/was.... (It was not quite 1/2 price.)

Your detergent probably has the TSP in it already if that is the result. I live in Oregon and the detergents sold in Oregon do not allow for TSP so the difference for us is noticeable when added.

Yep. Go to the paint store, buy a box of TSP. Use about a tsp per load. CLEAN CLOTHES!

Oregon, the land of dingy clothes. :D

Looking at my detergent bottles now, and I don't see TSP listed on any of them. Two of them state: contains no phosphate.

Phosphates have been phased out of nearly all detergents. Which is why they no longer CLEAN things. You've got to add it in yourself.

One wonders what business the government has dictating that phosphates need to be removed from detergents....

Government regulators use the pre-text that phosphates create algae blooms.

When in reality it is the phosphates that gave Cascade their "sheeting" action.

They've sought to blame home laundry for the havoc wrought by commercial fertilizers.

So, any opinion on the appliances I bought?

They all came with a 1 year warranty, I splurged and got 4 year warranty after that one expires (splurge? $120 for 5 total years on all three - I thought that wass hella reasonable.)

I think you're going to love the dishwasher, unless new ownership has gutted their manufacturing. Our Bosch was fabulous.

Well, it looks pretty solid and well made. I know that's not a lot to go on, but.. We can hope. :)

I dunno, I got an old Kenmore Dryer from the early 80's. The thing keeps going like a damned tank. I've only ever replaced the motor which I snagged on ebay for about 20 bucks.

That **** was built back in the day before the advent of cost reductions. As an engineer I've sat in countless meeting discussing things like removing a screw to cut costs...

The technology only helps in so far as it passes your DVP&R bogies... beyond that keep banging out the cost until you just barely hit your testing requirements !

The dryer was more because she wants them stacked in the laundry room (well, it's actually a big closet.) Without stacking, the dryer has to sit outside that area and takes up too much room. It's about 1" too narrow for them to fit in there side by side.

Also, the dryer were using now is actually a loaner from my parents.

Anyway, I'm just happy about it. :)

Yeah, Asi. Washing the clothes in the creek and drying them on rocks is really a drag! smiley

Ok, so you're teasing us. lol

Seriously want to know how you like it. I've discovered I'm a clean freak. Well, I've discovered that many people are slobs.

I'm waiting on a load of clothes to come out of a top loading washer (with an agitator!!!) and some TSP to see if they look better. I'm soo glad I'm no longer stuck with a HE washer, I can't tell you.

I really love our front loading washer, so does my SO. The only thing I don't like about it is how it has to be almost perfectly level or it leaks out of the place you put in soap and bleach.

Yeah, I hear lots of people love them. But just as many complain that they don't clean worth a damn too.

Not sure if it's brand, year made, or what.

If it wasn't for the fact that I'd have to get a new 240v 30/40amp line up to it, I would have splurged and gotten one of those hobarts. 60-90 second wash cycle would ****ing rule.
