OCCUPY DC EVICTION

McPherson Square eviction was completed today as of 5pm EST

Here are some images

It starts at a low level of intrusion. Tent dismantling in progress...

A few die-hard protesters attempt to hold a final few square feet of ground while a force of police tighten the perimeter around them

A final ultimatum is demanded of protesters to leave or face arrest

Print and Broadcast press is ejected from the Square next

Some protesters attempt to appeal to the commanding officer Captain Beck of the U.S. Park Police Department

A man protecting the library negotiates with Captain Beck for it to remain after convincing him the library meets 'government approval'.

But, in the end the police swarm McPherson Square in force and start beating peaceful protesters with batons.

One either beaten or trampled by police horses enough for him to go unconscious

The victim, still limp and unconscious was rushed away by an 'insertion team' of police and medics to an unknown location shortly after the incident.

After the eviction Occupiers regrouped. This gentleman indicated he tried to reach the encampment before the eviction to offer support. He tells of the area being under police lockdown, roadblocks at every turn, subway stations closed.

One Occupier says she vows to regroup and continue until the day the DC Police themselves storm Wall Street and place everyone there who is making us miserable under arrest.

Anti-Wall Street activists said on Friday they will march to protest Indiana's new anti-union "right-to-work" law in downtown Indianapolis this weekend, where the New England Patriots and New York Giants will face off in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Organizers of the Occupy Wall Street movement said they expected activists from a number of different unions, including the National Football League Players Association, to participate in the protests.

Greg Lambert with Occupy Indianapolis said the protests would begin each day on the south lawn of the Indiana statehouse, which is located just blocks away from Lucas Oil Stadium, where the NFL championship game will be played Sunday evening.

But he said the group also planned to march both days from the statehouse to Super Bowl Village, a three-block, pedestrian-friendly theme park set up outside the stadium.

On Wednesday, Indiana became the 23rd state to pass right-to-work legislation, a measure that hits labor unions in the pocketbook by allowing organized workers to opt out of paying dues.

Occupy Albany ... this version of the article from the same publication earlier today didn't include text that the Occupiers, after about 10 minutes, having said their piece, filed out of the room in an orderly manner as well. (Perhaps that's because the videos are up now.)

I was following occupy hartford on facebook to see what they are up to, but more and more, it appears the movement is a wing of the FSA, nothing more, nothing less. Not to excuse the actions of the fasciti gestapoesque LEOs in all of these videos, but, I can't support a movement of this nature in any way.

Portion from the PAC Application (Credit: John Thornton)

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) – The Occupy movement has decided to fight fire with fire.

Last week, John Paul Thornton of Decatur, Ala. filed to create a PAC for the Occupy Movement. “PAC” is an acronym for a political action committee, or an organization that campaigns for or against candidates, legislation, and ballot initiatives.

Thornton is an active member in the Alabama Occupy movement. He said he came up with the idea when he was laying in bed.

watching [The Colbert Report] and I thought, ‘Wouldn’t be nice if Occupy had a PAC,’ and … like a lightbulb, it came to me!” he told CBS Atlanta.

The money that will be raised can be used by Occupy as a whole, from branches in Huntsville, Ala. to ones in New York City or Oakland, Calif.

“This PAC is for everyone and if they want to contribute they are more than welcome,” Thornton said. “This is going to be uber-transparent down to the cent. It will be egalitarian and democratic.”

Money will also be used for federal candidates such as Elizabeth Warrenand Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders because of their pledges to get money out of politics.

Although starting a PAC is serious business, the application is filled with the typical whimsy of the Occupy movement.

In one section when the application asks for the address of any other connected organizations, the response is “none and everywhere.”

Recently, there have been signs that some Occupy groups have been refocusing their efforts on the first and original topic; The banks and their thievery.

Yesterday, Occupy Oakland, (one of the more active and intrepid groups) accompanied a homeowner who was to have a foreclosure meeting with a representative at her Bank in Downtown Oakland. The group showed up on numbers and managed to throughly intimidate several other banks also in the adjoining area.

Enough to cause some of them to declare an emergency and quickly rush to shutter their branches for the rest of day, posting notices like this in their windows:

Note: By California law, once a bank closes within it's regularly scheduled business hours, it may not re-open for 24 hours.

Later in the week, the Occupy Oakland group plans to join up with other Bay Area Occupy groups to cause several bank branches to close at once in a similar fashion in the San Jose area.

It appears the focus is starting to swing back around to the original purpose of the Occupy movement and concentrate on something other than butting heads with police and spreading their attention thin across 1001 injustices.

Occupy Philly devolved into an extended series of meetings where all they did was bicker about race and privilege and it has basically faded into irrelevance. It was hilarious to watch. There is a second occupy group here that is more aligned with Stop The Looting but they don't have much going on, either.

Meh. I tried. Back to hermit mode.
