Snow on the menu for western WA lowlands again tonight, with Winter Storm Warnings up for the Cascades. The Cascade snow pack as measured at the ski areas is anywhere from 115% to 155% of normal thru the 1st of March. Snoqualmie, Stevens and Crystal have already hit their season snowfall averages, so if March and April hold up it's possible we could be making turns at Crystal Mtn on the 4th of July again this year!

smiley @ Randy

Any winter that includes almost no days in the 20s and not so many in the 30s either is A-OK in my book.

We finally got a cool rainy week down this way. Wet and mid-40s. I needed a break from all the golf anyway! smiley

Could see some more snow in the western WA lowlands again today... The Cascades are getting absolutely pounded! I'm heading to Mt. Baker for some turns on Sunday, and the base at Pan Dome is likely to be over +25'! Yes, that's +300" of snow. Lolz... They've received +60" in the past 4 days, and are having to use snowcats to dig pathways in the snow for some of the chair lifts that are 30' off the ground! Can't wait to make some more turns in July again this year!

Saw wasps and honeybees before the last little cold snap.

Pretty sure we're done with winter now.

Winters over...someone needs to start a forum on summer storms. I still maintain the oceans will be alot warmer going into the summer and therefore the hurricane season will be very violent. Does anyone know source of historical Ocean temperature reading for Gulf region that we can monitor.

Yep, another sure sign of spring, lots of motorcycles on the road today :)

Usually farmers wait until mid-May to plant around here, if the fields dry out (we been wet since the August hurricane), they'll be planting early.

Yeah, storms below the Mason-Dixon line could be very nasty.

I just got a long range forecast for Florida. The emerging El Nino, if it continues to develop as expected, is going to suppress Gulf and Atlantic storms for this season.

73 in Minneapolis = another record-high (old one was 64). Last year still had 2-feet snow on the ground. 80 expected Sunday.

June is here.

More snow in the forecast for western WA lowlands over the weekend... Alpental tomorrow, where there were reports today that you could touch your skis to the snow about halfway up the lift ride on Chair 2! Baker on Sunday, where the lodges have +250", and Pan Dome has +300"! Wave after wave forecast for next week too!

Winter Storm warning are up for AZ too... AZ Snowbowl has a couple of feet on deck... Maybe I'll make a trip up the hill when I'm in town next week!

Alaska's largest city eyes snow record
By RACHEL D'ORO
Associated Press

Forecaster Neil Murakami says some other parts of Alaska have gotten even more snow than Anchorage.

Forecaster Neil Murakami says a change in weather patterns has brought more snow than usual to Anchorage this year.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- A near-record snowfall this winter has buried Anchorage neighborhoods, turning streets into snow-walled canyons and even collapsing some roofs.

But some residents are hoping for more, at least another 3.3 inches. Then they could say they made it through the winter when the nearly 60-year record of 132.6 inches was broken.
