Isn't it interesting that the cost of an ATM straddle ($30) virtually equals the after-hours movement in the stock.

Did you hear that? I think that was the sound of the TF Apple hater's collective *******s being ripped by a sideways insertion of the Chrysler building.

Great company and great earnings, but just like most things on Wall Street you cannot extrapolate it into perpetuity, to do so is essentially a fraud. That is the problem with the stock, and Wall Street in general. Timing is everything, but the stock isn't worth the multiple regardless.

**** them and **** their slave labor. I've never owned an Apple product, and NEVER WILL, period. When people wise up and figure out what's going on, they'll be throwing their I-phones into bonfires in front of the White House...

I found Doug Kass's position on this interesting. Watch retail earnings following this. If there are consistent misses, then Apple is beginning to consume an outsize share of disposable income.

Gasoline price did this in 2008. Would be truly fitting if it was iPads this time.

Bicycle: I think that's what's happening. Apple's market share is growing. It's the iPhone that's really crushing it for them. I haven't looked, but they must have revenue share agreements with the carriers. So the money they make from the phone is whatever, but each phone is a lot of cash flow from wireless contracts.

Same with the iPods. The money they make from each iPod is fine and dandy, but then you have someone buying music through them too, and that's throwing off the big dollars. It's not the consumer electronics that they are selling, it's the services tied to those that are the money makers.

Aaron - they make their money from the sale of the goods. the margins are very high. the carriers pay full price (although no doubt a wholesale negotiated price, not the retail price) for the phones and sell it to you for much cheaper than retail (with a lockdown). Apple makes it's billions by producing it's goods for tens of dollars, and selling for hundreds.

The music/app services are likely a net wash due to the cost of operating them, but are the enticing factor for people to buy the high margin consumer electronics.

Apple's initial deal with ATT involved revenue sharing, but after 2008 I believe that none of the carriers that have iPhone have revenue sharing, only wholesale buys that they then subsidize.
