Believe it or not, Pringles and variants are very big at small mom and pop non-chain convenience stores all over the mainland. Often in the smaller size can to appeal to the Chinese market. Really odd flavors, though.

Such as red bean soy, etc.

Pringles has to be one of the most processed fake foods on the market.

Why do they taste so good?

I buy them about once a year.

I know a food scientist for GM.

Fascinating stuff.

I used to give him crap about using hydrogenated oils.

He defended them based on increased shelf life.

Let's just say we agreed to disagree.

^ i've had concersations like that, too.

1. now that we've reached the enviable position of having enough calories for all our people, we should be focusing on food that's good for the (CUSTOMERS')body, not on further improving the convenience to producers and distributors.

2. That's only on a tiny piece of it, too. The amount of foods that pretend to taste good based on unlisted artifical flavoring is, um, many. While I'm awestruck at the sicentific ingenuity in making junk have taste, perhaps that's not where our best minds need to be.
