Apparently a clause in the agreement allows the banks to count future loan modifications made under a 2009 HAMP program towards their restructuring obligations for the new settlement.

We have much stronger words for how we are feeling about this but Barofsky sums it up calmly "It turns the notion that this is about justice and accountability on its head". Are the Big Five banks truly beyond the law?

This is truly end-of-empire kind of stuff.

When up is down and black is white, when the system evolved by the power elite always rewards thievery with even more profit and privilege we have to seriously ask, 'at what point does continuing to allow this to stand make us complicit in destroying the future at our own hands?'

Said another way, remaining silent makes us just as responsible for what will become of us. We are literally paying these f*cks for the rope to hang ourselves.
