Seriously after watching the market today it should obvious to the most moronic that the market will not be allowed to go down. The Bernank and the Central Planners won. They don't care if gas goes up to 10 bucks a gallon, they can always blame that on Iran. There is always somebody else to blame price increases on because only 0.00001% of America actually understands what the FED is and how they operate.

Let's face it, with the stock market perception is reality (math be damned), and perception is good with the central planners in control. Is it sustainable? **** I don't know, I used to believe in logic and math. Now who the hell knows. I will tell you what I do know. I have lost all faith in my fellow Americans to step up and first understand the problem and second do something about it.

PARTY ON.

You watch: Congress will call an investigation of oil prices (after their friends have sold off their long positions and established short ones) and prices will plummet.

This isn't supply and demand driven, unless you consider an overabundance of insider traders with virtually infinite money to be demand.

Boz this is money printing/liquidity driven. The whole Iran bull**** probably on accounts for 10% of the move.

Eaglewwit,
I dunno but you sound like where I am at mentally. Especially the part about losing faith in my fellow Amerikans to step up. They just want to bitch.

If anyone is holding short they mostly likely broke by now. Think about it.... the S&P 500 moved 205% from 666 to 1367. Since no one is willing to admit defeat I vote for: When Satan's Horns Crack Off From The Freeze?

Some of my coworkers are looking at me like I'm such an idiot. I told a few of them to bail out of the market back in 2008, but they all stayed in and thought I was nuts.

Now I know how Noah (Bible Story) felt when he was building that Ark, and there wasn't a drizzle of rain in sight. To answer your poll question though, I went with "When Bacon is Flying Across Manhattan"

The powers that be will keep the balls in the air longer than any of us can probably predict, but sooner or later...maybe much later...those balls are going to drop.

I personally got out last summer when the rising tide erased nearly all my 2007/8 losses.

WIshing for that extra 20% I could have today, but happy I locked in my wins.

I did take my own advice and bailed out of this market back in 2008. I've stayed on the side lines since then. I'm still in disbelief at the corruption and what lengths the Fed, politicians, and Wall Street are willing to take in order to keep this market going. I was lucky though. At least I got out with my shirt.

Many traders who use to frequent Tickerforum got carried out on their "sheilds", as their trading accounts got blown up.

Instead of playing the stock market casino though, I take more frequent trips to Foxwoods Casinos or Atlantic City to play poker tournaments or cash games there.

I've got better odds at profiting at Foxwoods or Atlantic City than in this currently rigged stock market.

Even sometimes when I lose at poker, I still enjoy socializing with other folks there and at least I have the opportunity to look the bastard in the eyes who toke my money.

I'm with Marketpirate on this one.

I think an apt comparison is Nazi Germany post-Stalingrad. We all know what the conclusion will be, but, we're obligated to let the madmen in charge proceed to the bitter end.

I'm cheering lately when the decisions indicate a growing madness. The crazier these despots get, the sooner they crash headlong into the wall.

Like the sign said in another thread tonight, 'the beginning is near'.

You no longer have a "market". You have a game of Monopoly where the banker lets certain players "borrow" money at token interest with no real obligation to pay it back. These players simply say, "so what if we **** up? No one is going to do **** about it and I get to keep my lootz. Holy ****. I'm in banker/trader heaven".

If you try to use your standard tools to price and predict you're believing in fairydust. Those things are being used to destroy you as the market is being manipulated to extract cash from those who are logical but missing information. Insiders traders are laughing at you.

This...there's still money to be made in the market...but a person can make a fortune playing poker as well...I don't see the difference anymore. I pulled out in mid 2005 - I lived in Los Angeles and got freaked out by housing, watching poor people buy $600k homes, and wound up getting out a bit early, but in the end, I more than doubled the money in Europe's housing market before coming back here so it worked out well. Now, I'll just sit on the sidelines and watch the game unfold...maybe I'll roll up to the table later as the players drop off.

Funny how things go. My business had been enough to make a living, but not put back any money. So, traded successfully till GS was made supplemental liquidity provider, then blew up the account. Business started picking back up, and now I'm making better than I have in years.

Feel fortunate to be doing well in this environment.

But as someone who is not actively trading - no really good place to put surplus income.

That's not entirely true...while it only earns a 1/10th of a percent less than most commercial banks...my safe keeps me liquid and available without worrying about 'bank errors'. smiley

Mpilar - I had your same thoughts. I've not done it yet, but if 10 grand in a money market pays 35 bucks a year, why even let the banks have it.

Exactly...you maintain control over it, and they don't get to use it to rip off others...there's no end to the pluses involved. :)

I'm liquidating stocks, and investing in consumption items. Its time to withdraw from Wall Street and the fiscal craziness.

In particular, I'm improving my brother's farm in rural Alabama, by improving the water supply.

Also, I'm consuming more time in the gym, for more cadio and strength training.

Ditto for concrete and plumbing supplies to lay up a foundation on that farm for a bugout residence.

I've given up on shelter-in-place, its time to create a do-able bugout plan.
