This is the fourth eruption by Mount Etna this year. Europe's most active volcano is located 18 miles from the town of Catania, Sicily. It reaches 11,000 ft in elevation, and tends to wreak havoc with air travel whenever it erupts. Today, the airports remained open, although authorities closed two flight paths that went too near to the volcano. The land movement on the island has made it quite clear there was a little burp of magma rising. [Edit: Should stay quite small compared to some of the historic eruptions.
