If you ask the boomers/X-ers what they did when they were 24, the answers would be the same.

I didn't drive as I could not afford a car and when I did I limited my driving due to cost.

Everyone I knew took a job just to pay the bills. Everyone spent too much on clothing, we didn't have healthcare because we didn't need it, and we didn't marry and start a family until we had the money.
