I would be interested to see if some of you guys berating Israel have ever been there....go there and see how the Arabs (Palestinians) live in the west bank and how they live in Israel....it's amazing most of the issues in the West Bank are self inflicted...all about doing away with Israel.they used to have good jobs in Israel until the Infata then that ended because they were bombing inside Israel..

In the Qur'an

Imam Abdul Hadi Palazzi, leader of Italian Muslim Assembly and a co-founder and a co-chairman of the Islam-Israel Fellowship, quotes the Qur'an to support Judaism's special connection to the Temple Mount. According to Palazzi, "The most authoritative Islamic sources affirm the Temples,". He adds that Jerusalem is sacred to Muslims because of its prior holiness to Jews and its standing as home to the biblical prophets and kings David and Solomon, all of whom he says are sacred figures also in Islam. He claims that the Qur'an "expressly recognizes that Jerusalem plays the same role for Jews that Mecca has for Muslims".[4]

When asked what the Qur'an says about the State of Israel, Palazzi replied:

Quote:
"The Qur'an cannot deal with the State of Israel as we know it today, since that State came into existing in 1948 only, i.e. many centuries after the Qur'an itself was revealed. However, the Qur'an specify that the Land of Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people, that God Himself gave that Land to them as heritage and ordered them to live therein. It also announces that - before the end of the time - the Jewish people will come from many different countries to retake possession of that heritage of theirs. Whoever denies this actually denies the Qur'an itself. If he is not a scholar, and in good faith believes what other people say about this issue, he is an ignorant Muslim. If, on the contrary, he is informed about what the Qur'an and openly opposes it, he ceases to be a Muslim.[64]

Prof. Khaleel Mohammed, Islamic Law scholar of the San Diego State University, noted that Sura 5 verse 21 of the Qur'an, and the medieval exegetes of the Qur'an, say that Israel belongs to the Jews. He translates it thus:

Quote:
"[Moses said]: O my people! Enter the Holy Land which God has written for you, and do not turn tail, otherwise you will be losers." Mohammed here understands "written" to mean this is the final word from God on the subject. In reaction, he was inundated with hate mail.[5]

So I guess that anyone claiming that the Jews are usurpers who have no right to the land are calling Al'lah a liar. Which I understand is punishable by death.

[ note : I am not a Muslim. But I know how to read. ]

Mazalo - Race baiting. I've seen it used before in many instances and I'm sure it is used for Jews too. That doesn't give anyone carte blanche to ACTUALLY BE racists towards Jews under cover of "we're not going to take it anymore". Facts are facts.

Please, continue to enlighten us about how Israeli skittles are met with rockets by those ungrateful Egyptians.

I'll be happy to enlighten you about it - but right there you have already shaded this with YOUR race baiting. What the hell have the Israeli's done to Egypt to deserve rockets on their civilian population, let alone military installations? Signed a peace treaty with them? Do you realize how ridiculous and anti-semitic you come off as? If a nation doesn't like the terms of a peace treaty they can renegotiate it, they can abrogate it, they can unilaterally change their recognition of the parts that they don't like. These would be reasonable responses - but no, you have to write that bull**** statement that I have quoted above. This completely validates what Bailout-funder wrote previously. So keep your sanctimonious BS in the bag where it belongs.

You don't know squat about what happens over here except what you're spoon fed by the media and your comments show that you're not willing to hear what that reality is.

Are the rockets coming from Egyptians or third parties? Not that it matters it it's egyptian territory. I hold my ground on the right of Egypt to sell their gas (or not) to whom they choose, but rockets would of course be an entirely differant matter.

Gollum - of course they have the right to determine who they sell to. As I said, it is their prerogative to abrogate the treaty. They have to deal with the consequences of that abrogation though. I don't think that means war, in and of itself, but as the rockets indicate, there are other things going on as well.

Mazalo - Get stuffed. You have my reply from above - choke on it.

By the way Gollum, you wrote

Of course, but lets examine the reasons and results of this. In Israel, we want to have a homeland where we are responsible for ourselves and cannot have another pogrom rammed down our throats. We allow others to live here with us, but not to overrun us, as this would lead to just another state with Jews living in it. The Arabs / Muslim that live here get proportional representation, are members of Knesset and even are members of our Supreme court.

What will we as Jews get if this is another Arab state in the Middle East? Well, the Palestinian Authority said it all when they announced that the Nation of Palestine will be free of Jews. Chew on that one for a while.

One thing that should be pause for thought is that unlike 1973 the egyptian military isn't playing with Soviet made crap but with the best weapons American tax dollars can buy. While no one can tell how armies will do in battle the 1100 Abrams tanks, 1700 M60A3 tanks, 240F16s, and Patriot missile batteries are a guarantee that things wouldn't be a cake walk for either side.

Well, here's the perfect example of someone who has learned nothing from history, and knows little about American weapons.

Cluestick - American weapons require massive expenditures on maintenance and technical expertise of highly trained soldiers. The common statistic you hear is that it takes 10 support personnel for each weapon. Are you really telling us that you think the broke government of Egypt, which is on life support for even feeding its own people, is spending billions on maintaining weapons systems and training soldiers to use them to their necessary degree ? What the Egyptians have are likely very expensive piles of junk.

So here's the history lesson - what happened to Kuwait's American weapons when Iraq invaded in '90s ? Go look it up and get back to me.

Not only that, the quality of US weapons provided to other countries varies quite a bit.

The US provides essentially "full-capability" weapons to Israel, while the weapons provided to Israel's potential adversaries are significantly crippled/degraded, e.g., they do NOT have the best comm/electronics/fire control/other systems installed. For all practical purposes, Israel receives the current generation US weapons systems while others receive stuff at least one generation behind; IIRC, this is written into US laws controlling the weapons sales.

As a holder of 16T, 24T-10 and 24T-20 (Patriot Missile) MOS's I will second the idea that good / constant maintenance is necessary to keep these systems operational.

A PATRIOT unit needs about 20 hours or repairs / maintenance per 100 hours of operation...MINIMUM. This MOS requires around 54 weeks of training to become "Entry Level" and we routinely trained new recruits another 6-12 months before they were considered "good enough".

That was training at U.S. standards. Having been stationed at Ft. Bliss, where they train Arab Air Defense soldiers, I can attest that Arab soldiers perform at MUCH lower standards than their U.S. counterparts.

Expect most of Egypt's planes to fail / be shot out of the sky and most of their equipment to fail within 3-4 days. I also expect about 50% of their advanced equipment is not combat-worthy at this time.
