The operation unfolded even as the White House and Department of Homeland Security assured the American public that they knew of no al-Qaida plots against the U.S. around the anniversary of bin Laden’s death. The operation was carried out over the past few weeks, officials said.

from what the article reads like, it sounds as if there was a dude, who the CIA was able to convince to take materials that could have been turned into a bomb, that would have gotten through the airport security because the security is merely theater and intended to make americans become accustomed to and accept turning in their privacy (naked pictures when you walk through the scanners) and give up ownership of their bodies (sexual abuse by the TSA).

in short, there was no bomb, that's why they assured the president that there was no threat, and they wrote the story, and passed it out to the news orgs to propagate, so that they could watch sites like TF for people to add to their lists.

I would suggest that all future stories from the "Homeland Security" apparatus should be placed in "Tinfoil" until they can be positively confirmed by credible sources.

While none of us should blindly believe anything that comes out of the mouth of Government spokesholes, there are people who DO want to kill us. Whether this one is being played-up to be a bigger threat than it really was is another issue.
