Although not NATO related, it is important to bring this story continuing to unfold and grow more intense in Canada as it may be lost suppressed in the domestic press here in the United States. Nonetheless, the crowds are huge and the push back by the Government of Quebec to citizen activism is bringing about many repressive new laws aimed at 'restoring order' among other issues that has sparked rage including a 75% student tuition hike.
In the story they refer to how OWS is attempting to raise awareness in the States to what is happening up North, protests that are now in their 100th plus consecutive day and growing:
Quote:
Organized by the Occupy Wall Street movement and by the group Strike Everywhere, the first New York event was designed to raise awareness about the Quebec protests while the second was about opposing anti-protest laws all over the world.
The events came several days after the Quebec government introduced a law setting rules for protests and promising stiff financial penalties for transgressors — a move that appears to have fanned the flames of the Quebec student movement.
Further describing what is happening on the streets of Montreal:
Quote:
The crowd ranged from hardcore elements carrying posters with revolutionary slogans, to elderly marchers, students’ mothers, and groups of people bused in from the Ottawa area.
While less than one-third of Quebec’s post-secondary students are actually on strike, they have attracted some support from people angry at the provincial government and its emergency law.
Some provisions of the emergency law include requiring any gathering of 50 or more persons must register with the Provincial Government with detail description of their purpose, route of travel, etc. Those participating may also face arrest and incarceration for wearing any form of a mask at a civil demonstration.
This time-lapse video shows in clarity just how immense the reaction to the laws imposed upon public demonstrations has become, This one from as far back as March 22, whereas more recent demonstrations have only grown larger as laws go into effect:
Quote:
Within Canada, organizers of the Calgary gathering described Quebec’s law as draconian, and encouraged people to meet in support of Quebec students.
There are other hints the student unrest could spread outside the province. The Canadian Federation of Students wants to call an Ontario-wide strike vote this fall in a show of solidarity with Quebec students.
“A campaign of mass educationals, solidarity delegations and mass mobilizations should be used to lead up towards a student strike in Ontario,” the federation said in a recent letter.
In other Chicago related news, a number of citizen journalists/bloggers have indicated they have far more damning information about possible illegal activities and corruption by Chicago Police. However, the information is represented as so incriminating and dangerous to discuss, they are not revealing such until they have safely departed the State of Illinois rather than risk detention.
I will follow up on that story when more becomes available.

When the Nazi's broke every law when coming to power, people in later years were asked, how were they allowed to do it? The answer was easy: They Simply Did It.
I present this story to eloquently bookend and put into perspective the previous article about protest crackdown and introduction of draconian penalties in Canada:
Quote:
Russian lawmakers slap big sanctions on protesters
By VLADIMIR ISACHENKOV | Associated Press – May 22, 2012
MOSCOW (AP) — President Vladimir Putin targeted those who dare oppose him Tuesday, introducing draconian new fines for protesters and handing out Kremlin jobs to widely detested lieutenants despite the public anger they have generated.
A new law introducing a 200-fold increase in fines for taking part in unsanctioned protests was given preliminary approval by the Kremlin-controlled lower house, setting the stage for toughening Putin's crackdown on dissent.
Opposition lawmakers denounced the new fines as an attempt to stifle criticism, warning that it would fuel broad outrage and destabilize Russia by depriving the public of a way to express discontent.
So, there you have it. Dare to oppose what the rulers demand and you too will be branded a troublemaker and fined or worse into oblivion.
Note: the following penalties have been applied to protestors in Canada under Bill 78 Of The Province Of Quebec:
Quote:
According to the provisions of the bill, any infraction against its prohibitions require offenders to pay fines, which are paid for each day of infraction. Those fines amount to:
- $1,000-$5,000 for individuals - $7,000-$35,000 for student or union leaders - $25,000-$125,000 per day, student & labor organizations
Fines are doubled following a "second offence." Universities or institutions which do not comply with the provisions of Bill 78 are subject to the daily fees paid by student or labor organizations.
Notice that the $125,000 (or $250,000) fine may be applied to an individual student per day.
Either it be Canada, Putin's new Russia or the United States the objective is the same.
Dare to speak up and you will be bankrupted by the state or incarcerated indefinately for your inability to pay the fines designed to keep you behind bars and ineffectual.

This excerpt from the AP article in the post above squarely connects the dots as a clear salient example of what authorities are gearing up to doing in the United States. Controlling the population in the lead-up to a financial collapse and ultimate aftermath. Consider what is happening now in the ongoing clashes with OWS and the 'authorities' as mere low level 'warm up rounds'.
Opposition lawmakers denounced the new fines as an attempt to stifle criticism, warning that it would fuel broad outrage and destabilize Russia by depriving the public of a way to express discontent. Some warned that it may stop the middle class from protesting in Moscow but would fail to stem likely outbursts of anger against a series of planned reforms that would hike energy prices and cut social benefits.
Quote:
In a move to rein in the opposition, the new bill raises fines for joining unsanctioned rallies from a maximum of 5,000 rubles ($160) now to 1,000,000 rubles ($32,250).
Its authors also suggested introducing a punishment for any mass public gathering even if it lacks the formal signs of a political protest. That was a clear response to the creative new demonstrations popping up in Moscow, where participants leave their slogans and posters at home and walk silently so their actions don't formally count as rallies.
It is becoming abundantly clear: Anything you do to disagree with whatever 'authorities' wish to do with you, even walking silently down the street, will brand you as a troublemaker and a terr0rist in a world sliding fast downhill into an economic morass.
Count on it.
