I have that age group (35-44 give or take) particularly overweight in money market funds/cash alternatives.

I'm risking them ditching me as an advisor as a result of underperformance when the markets go up, but I feel that preserving the integrity of the funds they are taking out of spending and are instead saving is more important.

It is a contrary strategy to "get your money working for you" kind of mentality, for sure.

I just do the best I can.

86, low single digits, with about half in long term classic investment stocks and half in money market.

Nothing impressive, to me it's more important that my clients aren't disheartened by putting savings away than making a killing. Hopefully they are understanding what page I'm on, as an old fogey :)
