...If we reach a point where the EU itself has run out of money, and where the IMF begins to fragment in terms of what it's willing to do, then what you face I think is the possibility of some of these banks actually going under...

...As somebody who has always believed in free markets I do think that the penalty for running a company badly is that you should go bust and shareholders and investors should lose their money, and I've always had that view. The difficulty with these Spanish banks is the scale of the problem. What we think is four or five hundred billion, but who knows? Perhaps it's very much worse than that. You know, perhaps these figures have actually been fiddled and things have been hidden.

And so the scary thing is, that if these banks do go, do we have a sort-of 1931 type moment? I have thought very hard about this over the last few weeks. I really, genuinely, don't know the answer. But it is pretty scary...

...What you may see is a very desperate European Union begin to put in place, you know, capital controls and things like this... You know, we've got these people who are wedded to their project, who fanatically believe they are going to be right... [who] would happily strip democracy from all 500 million European citizens and make all of those countries ... effectively satellites of their regime...

...In a sense the proposal that is on the table next week ... would be the first step toward that repression. If they are able to put together a debt union from a European Union, if they are able to have total control over individual member state's budgets and all the rest of it, then we are heading very, very rapidly down that road towards repression. And frankly, that's the only way they can win now...

Got a lot of time for this guy, one of the few politicians I have ever heard utter "I honestly don't know" to a question.

You may or not be surprised to know that he is generally considered a crackpot by the British media, and derided by 99% of the press.
However I for one will be voting again for UKIP

I think Churchill was considered a crackpot in the mid to late 1930's when he worried aloud in Parliament about the German military build-up.

Right is right and, in time, is revealed to be so.

Disclosure: I am of the Austrian school, of Rothbardian persuasion. I believe in minimal government. Spent 5 years and possibly $1million to see if business can be run on this basis (leaderless). Good news for me is that it can, and profitably, bad news is that it only works with responsible people.

Wow. It just goes to show that not only can individuals live in total denial - entire nations do as well. Denial is an extremely powerful force that is just as dangerous as gulping down a daily fifth of Johnny Walker Red or sticking needles into one's arms.

The one guy who tells the truth and he is scorned by a nation. And not even one equivalent elected out of 535 electeds sitting in Congress.

Farage must feel like the one sane man in a nuthouse packed with deranged lunatics.

It's not that America and the West in general lacks qualified leaders and potential leaders so much, as that they've been successfully purged from the system. From its levers of power and influence. In order to provide maximum insulation for the sociopaths who presently make up TPTB from the one thing they cannot and will not survive after their Ponzis go***** up. The truth.

I'm not so hopeful Jstanley: When everything goes***** up they will just trot out some more bull**** to explain it and the masses will fall for it. Truth will never win as long as politicians are allowed to spin and tell lies because only a minority are capable of seeing through it and only a fraction of those (e.g. those around here) have gathered the neccesary knowledge and info to do so.

I'll vote for UKIP on principle but I'm under no illusions that they will ever be running the country.

If I had to bet on an outcome my money would be on you.

Power settles everything. Even if it's illegitimate and contrived power that really has nothing at all to do with the choice of the ordinary people (the governed).
