Per Bloomberg.

Looks like the NY Times was the source:

Convenient, ain't it? How the bloke who actually made the trade -- USING FDIC INSURED DEPOSITS -- is located outside the reach of a subpoena from the U.S. CONgress.

Especially for the CONgresspersons on the Banking Committee, who want one thing and one thing only from Dimon's wiggly ass:

Now 9 billion.
The questions are what is the final loss and will it actually be announced.

My first thought when I heard that Dimon was "apologizing" for a billion dollar loss was "uh oh did some of Dimon's multi trillion dollar bets on the counterparty side of derivatives contracts blow up" and is this number going to actually not just be a pidling amount but potentially tens of billions? I wonder if this "9 billion" is just this quarter's writeoff with the loss being amortized over the next few years using some creative TARP-legalized Enron-style accounting process.

I called this when it happened: it'll be 20 billion when all is said and done.

It will be $20B minimum. Keep going, Jamie. What's $9B among friends, anyway?

Who's your daddy, Congress? Yeah, that's right - Jamie's your daddy.

And he's Obama's daddy, too...

In the long run even the most despotic governments with all their brutality and cruelty are no match for ideas. Eventually the ideology that has won the support of the majority will prevail and cut the ground from under the tyrant's feet and rise in rebellion to overthrow their masters.
