Well sorry about starting a new thread, but this touches too much countries and the direction it's taking is quite concerning... Quote:Iran massing troops and missile systems in the UAE islands occupied Logta From the same guy who tweeted first about the Saudi forces on alert... and he was right about that one so... Following the tweets about the Saudi Army being on full alert... Quote:Saudi leadership warns against the publication of classified documents or information from the military and security through the means of social communication. Do not be helpful to our enemies This also happened yesterday.. http://www.rt.com/news/line/2012-06-28/Quote:Iran condemns US backing of UAE over Gulf islands So this might be in response to that... http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/iran-sh....Quote:Iran to Equip Gulf Ships With Missiles
Iran expects to equip its ships in the Strait of Hormuz soon with shorter-range missiles, a Revolutionary Guards commander was quoted as saying, in the latest apparent warning to the West not to attack it over its disputed nuclear program.
The Islamic Republic has threatened to shut the Strait, the conduit out of the Gulf for 40 percent of the world's seaborne oil trade, if Western sanctions aimed at curbing its nuclear works block its own crude exports. They are preparing... Anyway, wouldn't surprise me, full scale sanctions hit Iran on Sunday... so it seems to me they are preparing to block the strait. And according to a greek defense website which was accurate in the past, Saudi troops are being deployed in Jordan... remember that Syria is the battleground for a proxy war between Russia and NATO AND between Saudi Arabia and Iran... Turkey wants to end the crisis in Syria and the refugees, not to mention the PKK and Saudi Arabia wants their allies the radicals among the FSA to take power. Maybe we'll see a joint Saudi-Turkish no-fly zone/attack on Syria while Israel takes out Hezbollah while the US takes out Iran... Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said there are no coordinated draft resolutions for the Geneva conference on Syria. China said Thursday it would resolutely oppose any military provocation in its territorial waters, remarks which appeared to be directed at the United States, Vietnam and the Philippines.
China's military has established routine naval patrols in the South China Sea, "indisputable territory" of the nation and a matter of "national sovereignty," defence ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng said. And in Uzbekistan... http://www.spacewar.com/reports/Uzbekist....Quote:Uzbekistan pulls out of 'Russia's NATO'
Ex-Soviet Uzbekistan on Thursday pulled out of a Moscow-led regional security alliance after protesting Russian plans to deploy a rapid reaction force for Central Asia near its borders.
The decision to leave the Collective Security Treaty Organisation comes as a blow to Russia's efforts to reassert its authority in the resource-rich region in the face a continued diplomatic and economic push from China. Could***** off Russia... And this... http://www.spacewar.com/reports/Russia_m....Quote:Russia may fly military cargo to Syria: report
Russia may decide to fly a controversial military cargo of helicopters and air defence systems to Syria after it abandoned an attempt to ship the materiel by sea, a report said Wednesday. Not to mention, with the Obamacare ruling, the 4th of july coming up and the fires in Colorado, there's plenty of ``distractions`` around to start a war without many people being concerned/speaking out.. Oil didn't go up 9% today for nothing. The whole stinking place is a powder keg...

Sorry Vitchilo, I just don't see Syria, a nation with no oil and no real strategic importance to Russia outside of the port of Tartus being a serious "red line" with the Russians. I think they are just posturing to "frame" their side of the case in negotiations over the future status of Tartus and what other geopolitical goodies they can extract from the West after a potential regime change in Syria. I don't think the Russians are willing to raise the general DEFCON level over Syria, but they are going to apply as much pressure as possible to extract as much as they can out of the situation before the fall of Assad is a done deal.
Russia has already signed on to a post-regime change transition plan there, which leads me to believe that they are in play for a diplomatic buy off.
As for the others... sure, I could see Syria turn into a serious shooting war between Iran and Saudi/Sunni Gulf Arab proxies. This is not something to be casually dismissed as it could potentially put the Straits of Hormuz at risk. I guess, in short, is this the trigger for WW3... I don't think so. Iran and Saudi proxies have already been fighting in Yeman and in Bahrain, not to mention Iraq as well... this is not a new concept, and neither conflict lead to global conflagration... far from it. Could this be the trigger for a very destabilizing regional war... it sure could be, if the players don't play their cards right... and this would NOT have a beneficial impact on our domestic American economy.
I mean, come on... if a situation like this were to happen in the Ukraine, then YES I could see the Russians laying down some red lines and ultimatums. But, Syria?... I think they are gaming the situation to pick up some geopolitical chips to use in other areas.

We already have access to Canadian petro.
The US's problem is not that we have a shortage of petroleum. The problem is that the US has a shortage of CHEAP petroleum.

Vitchilo, can we really expect anything else? Outside of the 1900s, 20s and 30s, we've been involved in some type of conflict or another every decade for the past 120 years. Just off the top of my head you've got the Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, Korea, The Cold War until the late 80s, Vietnam, Grenada, Iran/Iraq, Iraq v.1, Afghanistan, Iraq v.2, Egypt, Libya and soon to be Syria.
'Round and 'round and 'round we go, where it stops, nobody knows.

The 4th turning- points out there has been a major world conflict at every K wave or about 80 years going back to Middle ages- but what makes this one so scary is that so many end of time senarios coincide with this time coming in the fall- or at least a few- though on 12-22-12 I think the world goes on- I do think we'll have a turning of history of sorts- something big is coming and if you do not intuit that...well it does not really matter- a new election will be happening and no matter who wins- it will not make a ounce of difference- the March of tyrany has begun- where it ends no one knows

Quote:Saudi troops are being deployed in Jordan... Uh, excuse me but they are going the wrong way. The war is suppposed to be against Iran, which is in the other direction. This reaffirms what was said about the Saudi troops in the first Iraq war, when they were stationed in front of the Americans before the war started. The Americans were instructed that after the war started, DON'T shoot the first Arabs they saw. These would be the Saudis running away. They were to shoot the second line of Arabs they saw which would be the Iraqis chasing the Saudis. The Saudis never have to pay or fight. All they do is profit from higher oil prices. As usual, they will fight to the last American soldier and the last American dollar.
