Our country no longer has sovereignty to declare war. Instead, we have to go to the UN to get permission now, and then do things which are acts of war, but we get to pretend that they're not. I have no idea how Americans can walk around without hanging their heads in shame.

We can, because some of us are still fighting this bull****.

I attended a small meetup with Ted Cruz (and his father) yesterday. As most Texans know, Ted Cruz is our former state solicitor general and is currently in a runoff for US Senate. It was an excellent meeting because, rather than spit out a canned campaign speech, he walked in, sat in a circle with people, and said that he wanted to do the meeting in a question and answer format. To the Syria question, he responded (as he did during the most recent debate with his opponent, the wealthy-as-Mitt David Dewhurst) that he did not see an imminent threat to the US and would not agree to authorize or fund military action in Syria. He also said that it is time for the Congress to man up and uphold the Constitution, especially in matters of executive over-reach involving our military. He stated flat out that although the legislative branch is the branch with the power to declare war, the members are too cowardly or derelict and find it easy to allow the president to usurp their power and duty to weigh the evidence and decide. He rejects nation building. He knew he was in a room with a group composed 100% of Ron Paul supporters. He had the integrity to state that although Ron and Rand Paul have both endorsed him, he does not adhere completely to Ron Paul's positions, foreign policy being the main sticking point. He got an earful from us, including remarks from former and retired military and officers who are seriously opposed to military adventures in the absence of imminent danger. These men urged Ted Cruz to dig for the information and never let anyone lead him into believing that the nation is at danger until he has assessed the danger himself with the resources available to him. He certainly seemed to listen soberly when these men who had so much at stake advised him not to be stampeded into military missions.

I intend to vote for Ted Cruz. He used to belong to a group of teenage Constitutional scholars who memorized the Constitution and studied it. At age 15, these teenagers would be invited to make appearances before different groups where they would recite parts of the Constitution then discuss and take questions. This year we in my state have the rare opportunity to install an articulate senator who has spent most of his years dealing with constitutional matters. I'll be spending time manning his phone banks and helping in any way I can. This year is deadly serious for our country. I intend to see Ted Cruz become a senator. I hope my fellow Texans will turn out July 31st and vote for him in the runoff election then again in November.

Are you sure about that? You might want to ask Momar or Mubarack that question.

And I almost forgot, Saddam and Bin Laden and all the victims of those continual drone strikes and all the ones you don't hear about...

Hillary really does have an agenda.

Having Turkey as part of the mix is reminiscent of the treaties that pulled in so many countries into WWI.
