Instead of only one CCW let's say you had 25 in a theater of 300. 1 guy steps up front fires a warning shot in the air and throws a canister of gas (might be teargas but no confirmation on that). The movie has been playing for about 20 minutes. It is dark, you pull your weapon to try to take down the shooter and people are running and screaming and who knows what else. All of sudden you hear a shot and a flash from your left, then one down in front of you a few more from the front of the theater then one from right behind you and you hear the bullet whistle by. Are you sure at this point that you will not hit someone in panic mode or maybe actually shoot someone else that is trying to do the same thing as you?

Oh, and the original shooter is wearing body armor.

I'm not saying either way, I can just picture a larger nightmare scenario materializing.

This is not promoting or criticizing CCW it is just I don't know what is better.

The video I've seen here of this incident and the one where the 70 year old guy goes after the robbers - every single ****ing person was running around, completely upright, flailing their hands, covering their ears and mouths (as if these are defensive postures). They could've saved time by painting bulls eyes on their backs! So many people are going to die because they are idiots and have no natural instincts for self-preservation.

Another reason that one person with a hand gun and a CCW wasn't going to have much of a chance. Not with all these idiots with zero situational awareness.

Exorcism, I'm assuming you don't have your CHL or have never had any training. You should remember your training. You are trained to identify your target, make sure what is behind your target, and then make sure you can get a center of mass shot. You are completely liable if you injure anyone else, i.e. you will go to jail for a looong time if you **** up. Your CHL is for you to save your own skin and go home to your family tonight, not to play vigilante cowboy sheriff in public.

Matthew Bracken was a member of another forum I was on back in 2004 I think, when he was wrapping up his book. Read it first thing then and everything else since then at least 3 times each. I always worry when **** like this happens that they'll 'follow the script', but in today's climate, I'm almost expecting them to.

Even the potential that multiple people are prepared to defend themselves serves as a deterrent.

you have concealment - maybe, certainly not cover.

take an airline terminal for example...start at one side and have people covering the exits...thats a nightmare scenario

The fact is that they are made to APPEAR safe, but are anything but. A couple of *******s with attitudes could come into the lobby before security and literally "street sweep" everyone in there. Even worse would be some ******* with a bomb in his backpack; a perfectly expected carry-on item and thus not out of place or anything that would lead anyone to think there was a problem until it blew up. Cover is (by design) absent and concealment isn't much better. Never mind the fact that weapons are "prohibited" and this means that you're a walking man-sized target. Now add all the ****ing glass to it and you have all sorts of flying sharp debris problems too.

Airports suck.

I hate to be gruesome, but in all practicality, you could find some semblance of cover/concealment. Even if it's other bodies, or at the end of a row of chairs. Make yourself small and keep your wits about you (which is very hard to do if you're hyperventilating).

You can find concealment to some degree in a movie theater but not (realistically) cover. They ain't the same thing.

Drum-style magazines are most-common among AKs. I think someone makes them for the AR-series civilian weapons but I bet they jam like crazy.

The AR drums I use (.223) have operated flawlessly with 1000+ rounds so far. No experience with the 7.62 NATO.
