Sticks in the yard cleaned up, bagged and on the curb (trash tomorrow morning). Deck cleaned, table cleaned (it comes inside), grill cleaned (I should just throw it out).

Whew, it's hot. Taking a coffee break now, sweatin' me beuttocks off.

Just curious...why clean the grill? N/M...I think I just answered my own question. No power...have something to cook with.

It's just a shell, needs rebuilt. Just sits out there otherwise, attracting all sorts of creepie crawlies looking for a home.

Don't want them in the garage later.

Yeah, have a 2nd grill and a camp stove for emergencies.

I think some gasoline and some diesel if you need it for the auto/generator is in order. Enough for a week IMHO. Im laying in 25 gallons here in ATL due to possible shortages next week ala Ike/Gustav.

All of them are doing it. When I went for some last minute groceries, the other station that was already at 3.59. Just went past it and it's now 3.65. That's less than half an hour.

Something else hit me too. I didn't see Anybody prepping their homes. So I took a round-a-bout route home through the neighborhoods. Yup, NO ONE doing anything, no shutters at all.

We also cleaned out the gutters, trimmed limbs, moved livestock to higher ground, got livestock feed, caught up on the laundry, and checked our emergency supplies.

Stay safe and keep us posted here on TF. A friend of mine just moved to Algiers Point a few days ago from Uptown. I think that is the lowest point in the city and its directly on the Mississippi. So not good for them.

Yep. I did all the "make sure they're ok" things yesterday -- have wingnuts, have mounting blocks, got on the roof and checked everything, cleaned gutters, etc. All good and ready if it comes here -- but I think it's gonna get you guys.

If you are staying in place and hunkering down, make sure you have a hand crank can opener. I've already started making ice. You can fill up plastic bottles and put them in the freezer. Use empty bread bags and ziplocs and keep emptying your ice maker tray.

You can take newpapers and blankets and cover your food in the freezer. This extends the amount of time you can keep food frozen. Just don't open the lid after the power goes off.

Turn your AC down low and get your house as cool as cool as possible before you lose power.

HAVE CASH.

Wash all your clothes in the laundry basket and make sure to empty your dishwasher. Vacuum. Your house is going to get nasty tracking in debris, but at least start out clean. I change the linens on the bed also because I never know how long we will be without power. We have our generator pattern down pat for what we can and can't power.

Possible mandatory evacuations tomorrow.

Jindal follows the lead of other area governors and says he's staying away from the convention until the state is out of harm's way.
