1. Cat needs his rabies shot. Once every 3 years, like it or not. Unlike Covid19 with a 99.95% survival rate, rabies has an effective ZERO survival rate, so it is what it is.

2. Call vet. Set up time. Can't come in, they come to the car, take the animal inside, stab him, bring him back. You trust he really got it since you didn't see it, but the vet DID sign the form (legal requirement) and give you the tag.

Now this sounds ok, except...... cats both get and can transmit coronaviruses!

So if I have it, the cat has it. Worse, unlike me the cat can't tell you it might have it since he can't speak English and I think it's fair to assume that if a large percentage of humans don't run a fever, neither do cats.

Which means all those "protocols" are in fact worth ZERO if the veterinary clinic treats cats. Which it does (along with dogs, of course.)

Flat-out insanity. And every one of the people working there is parading around OUTSIDE in their worthless cloth face diaper printed up with pretty little animal pictures on it, NOT a one-use per-patient disposable surgical mask, that will dutifully concentrate anything my cat OR ANY OF THE HUNDREDS OF OTHERS THEY SEE IN THE ASSEMBLY LINE THEY ARE RUNNING IN THE PARKING LOT breathes out AND THUS THEIR "MASK" WILL MAKE SURE EITHER THEY GET IT or THEY WILL GIVE IT to all the OTHER cats they see.

These people are allegedly doctors, and they are all ****ing NUTS.

Do you know about the rabies shots? Antibodies are in evidence for at least 7 years after a 1 year shot.

You won't hear any vets or the manufacturers of the rabies shots telling you that though.

Matter of fact, I *BELIEVE*, but I'm not certain, that the 1 year and 3 year shots are exactly the same, but to get the 3 year you have to have had the 1 year the year prior.

Just another medical scam.

Oh yea, and vets. On the last trip for shots for a dog, mine let me and the kids not only in, but into the back... Kids wanted to see the cats.

And here's the better one - the "standard" shot is full of adjuvants. Which have been proved to cause cancer later on in the animal's life.

There is a more-expensive version that doesn't have them. Which I pay for, because I like the cat and having an extra dick grow out of his abdomen doesn't really make me smile.

Not true with cats on the 3-year anyway. Midnight has gotten the three year twice, and the first one was when I first got him (who knows what he had before, he was a rescue)

the local vet I take my cat to sent out an email in july telling people to chill out, everyone rushed out to get pets during the first few weeks of lockdown, and as a result the vets have had a very profitable time but they've also seen a storm of bad publicity because quality of care / availability of appointments is down huge.

they moved to a bigger, more expensive facility mid year 2019 so I had no doubt they are trying to rake in as much as they can before the gravy train ends

Goforbroke: Sometimes you can rummage around in the couch cushions and come up with an old one you can still use.

My son brought me one the other day that he found... somewhere... Out in the woods, I think. God only knows how long it had been laying out there. It was still good though! It's amazing how long they can last.

So look around. Maybe you'll be in luck and run across one when you really need it!

Once they started pet insurance, the vets became unaffordable. Next pet I get, I hope my aim is good. I would hate to have to shoot twice. I might shoot myself. The bastards can test you into bankruptcy. My poor dog and my poor wallet suffered heavily.

My prior Dog had an issue with the vaccines so they got a waiver for the rabies as long as they could detect a reaction in him through a titer. I think he went for 6 years.

PLS: Every study that's been done that WASN'T funded by a vaccine manufacturer shows that 1yr rabies shots are still effective after 6-7 years.
