If that response was directed to me, I understand. My point, obviously not made very well, is that I see the "people in charge" as WANTING things as they are and NOT WANTING to change and/or make hard and painful decisions, probably hoping that things do not blow up "on their watch". I do want "we the people" to try to make changes, I just do not see current "leadership" in any area of government paying attention or listening. That is what I would like to know....how do we get them to listen and take action?

The people in charge can be convinced that they will lose their jobs if they don't act.
This is the ONLY way we get change in this country.
Votes matter and so do voices.
Silence is consent.

Gen,
I write, call,*****, moan to my congressman..and have for while. What frustrates me the most is trying to engage fellow business associates, friends, relatives about what is happening and whaT THEY NEED TO DO ABOUT IT! Usually it is like talking to a wall. They do not get it! They can't get past the nightly news before they get to their evening coctail.
They are now starting to get nervous, I have been pounding this **** in their head since 2002. Now I'm starting to get phone calls..emails "Hey WTF is going on"?
And I explain in 2nd grade logic, get off your ass and find out!!!! I point them to your ticker for starters.
Something odd happened today. The best way I can explain it is... I rememeber playing hockey on the lake as a kid. Every once in a while you would here a deep crack in the lake, it was always scary. Usually someone would fall through the ice sometime in the next few days. I felt that same cracking sensation today in the commodity markets. Probably means nothing, but I felt it in my gut. I wouldn't trade it, just saying....

The 30% increase from China is already happening in my industry. We have received numerous calls from customers who want us to requote product they are receiving from China.

Bmaso - I understand how you feel. I have been passing on what I have learned here from KD and others to my friends, family, work associates, strangers...and it has resulted in little to no interest and most do not realize "the cracks in the ice". Many years of complacency and soft living for millions of Americans, including brainwashing from the boob tube and radio (and not reading or researching!!), has led our society astray. I believe many people will ultimately join the fight vs government and its corruptive machinations...but it will take a lot more suffering on their part before the light bulb goes on. Education and information are the key...which is why the TF/KD is a shining star.

Please realize folks, that inundating the media (local and national, print and broadcast) is as important as (OK, Gen, sorry, I think it's MORE important than) contacting various congressfellows.
Just a few more faxes/emails to add on to your list - and it's the gift that keeps on giving :) :)

With Dupont raising prices 20%, my expectation is now for double digit price inflation next year. Federal Reserve, are you listening? Price inflation expectations will go parabolic, like every thing else the FED has touched.

Ewok,
I think your congressmen is wiping his ass with it right now. Hopefully your senators won't do the same. I've personally given up on the idea that faxing to our congressmen and senators will do any good. Doesn't mean that I've stopped faxing though. There's always hope. I've turned my attention to the media now. Somehow I think we need a grass roots uprising and it doesn't seem that so far burning the fax lines up to DC is adequate.

The average J6P still isn't involved because they are constantly being misdirected.
It's easier to blame some external cause, such as OPEC or speculators than to take a cold, hard look at what is really going on. J6P may be*****ed, they may moan about the government, but really, they are still very much conditioned to believe that America can never do wrong. That, as Americans, they are entitled to all of the benefits, low prices and whatnot. In fact, KD, if you showed your message to the average guy/gal on the street they'd probably remark that you were anti-American simply because you choose to question, provide documentation and actually have the conviction to follow through.
And, unfortunately, it will be impossible to get mainstream Main Street off its arse until something massive and dramatic happens. These trillions of dollars of derivatives, changes in 'nominal value' of assets and the devaluation of the dollar are too abstract or can easily be misdirected by the media as being the 'fault' of someone else (and once that someone else - OPEC, speculators, whatever - cuts it out, everything will be 'back to normal'). J6P has no reason to believe otherwise because, despite what they say, they really believe that America itself is 'too big to fail.'
In sum, the average American can only see what is only happening to them... right here, right now. They cannot (will not?) connect the larger picture until things really are crashing down. And then, there will probably be a long line of externalities and scapegoats to blame the events on until there's no one else to blame.
(P.S. - KD, apologies for the post I did the other day. I was trying to make light of this, but it apparently came across the wrong way. My bad.)

Richard Fisher President, Dallas FED
Dear Mr. Fisher:
By now you should have gotten at least one copy of the editorial which follows this letter, which I am attaching just in case you've missed it.
I am adding my support to Mr. Denninger in calling for you to actually do what you now claim to advocate, and head off the impending inflation. Doing so is in the best interest of the banking industry, as well as that of the 80% of Americans who did the right thing by living within their means and saving their money.
Now do the right thing yourself. Give those people back their purchasing power.
Sincerely; --------------
