Someone's agenda or not with the signature of a constituent on it RP should be happily accepting the fax. If my Rep doesn't want to hear what I have to say then I don't want to pay him to be my Rep.

That after the BSC hearings he is racking up Pussy-Patriot points. He had his chance to put everything on the line and stand up to the Fed for his people and pussed out. This just loses him more credibility.

The truth about this situation is that all of the people that surround Ron Paul are complete imbeciles. I know this from personal experience. It's unbelievable how idiotic these people are, and Ron Paul should definitely be blamed for choosing these clowns as his staff.

There is no doubt in my mind that Ron Paul was never personally informed and will never be personally informed about the fax situation. The only way to inform him would be to fly to Washington and explain it to him face-to-face.

Another thing to consider is that Ron Paul really is getting on in his years. He's just not as fiery and bold as he once was. Too bad, because now is when a guy like him is needed most.

Thanks Tim. I tip my hat back at you. Sometimes I can't tell whether I'm making my point or not. The white noise that passes for logic in here is deafening, and the 'sanity' (as you put it) is drowned out by the sheer volume of un-sanity....

I am profoundly baffled by the low-brow sycophantic behavior on display here - posters stepping in to say "you go girl" to the most inane and illogical posts. They share the poster's conclusion, so the murky mental gymnastics don't even register with them.

Keep up the fight for logic and sound philosophy, brother.

Again - point out what it was about the April 2 hearings that earned him "Pussy-Patriot points".... Specifically , what did he say or do that you've concluded was 'pussing out' in his questioning? I'm very interested - I've asked this question a few times now, with no answer.

Karl - It is illustrative of a weakness of your intellectual arguments that you choose to stifle any dissent rather than refuting it. You wax bellicose and name call as a matter of course, and devolve into playground tactics when you can't keep up the facade of infallibility that you so badly want to project.

If shouting a person down with name-calling and accusations of 'polluting the thread' (it really means getting in the way of the worshipful morons who can't wait to sniff my jock strap) doesn't work - shut them up. You apparently have no tolerance of debate that challenges your beliefs....

I suspect my ban will soon be permanent - good. It will serve as a further reinforcement of the imposition of group-think that is rampant in your little playground. Congratulations on playing the role of internet tyrant!

Gen,

Yes, if the Chief of Staff is involved, that's a pretty damning indictment. Given how Paul handled the racist comments in his newsletter, I wouldn't hold my breath either. It is becoming apparent the whole lot of them are kooky. A fish rots from the head down, as they say. A kook with good intentions, I believe, but alas, a kook.

Morgan,

In summary, Von Mises was saying some (perhaps even many?)interventionists hold the paradoxical view that an ingnorant electorate can elect an effective government. It is not logical to say that all people that hold this view are interventionists (even if he meant all interventionist); therefore, as Circpros points out, you fail to show how Paul is an interventionist. I don't think any accusation could be further from the truth. I'm willing to hear an argument.

It was his lack of direct questioning on the Fed's intentions and who would end up paying for the Fed PUT on BSC. In the end we all know it is the taxpayer, the consumer and the people starving in 3rd world countries due to high commodity prices and low $ value who are paying for it.

My problem with it is that with the vast knowledge of economics and Fed background and motivation to aid banks instead of taxpayers that he stood silent during his time to be most honorable and patriotic for his constituents and fellow Americans. He pussed out and in response a lot of us lost respect for him.

I was actually going to vote for the guy after reading his work and watching what he's done in his career. Now I nominate him for pussy-patriot of the year. (rhyme unintentional)

I didn't spell check though.

What I found funny is the Brother MFC-3100C fax in Ron Paul's office. That's a college dorm fax machine, not what you'd expect in the office of a powerful elected official. Let's fax color copies of Karl's famous smoking bear cartoon.

Actually, its almost certainly the 8000, which is a laserjet.

If he's really dumb enough to have an INKJET fax machine then the comments I made to his assistant are even more inline - he's NUTS to own one of those, in that you can buy the laser with the CONSUMABLES COST for a couple of months in an average office!

Anyone that wants to point the finger at Ron Paul for not saving us all by this particular action or that one HAS ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what the man stands for.

If you are looking for a "daddy" to fight your battles, keep the Federal Reserve in "check," and protect you from the boogey man (who lives in a cave in Pakistan) then you should get along fine with this next crop of tyrants that want to give you all kinds of great "freebies" and tuck you in each night. To actually use as criticism that the man is only human is to reveal your own bias to treat elected officials as deities upon the golden pedestal of (**trumpets blare**) Government.

He's just an old man who is trying through word and deed to inspire YOU to be your own SUPERMAN, rather than claiming to be one himself.

And recognize that your title of "pussy patriot" if put into the proper perspective of his life's achievements (compared to yours) will outrank your "keyboard patriotism" anyday.

Think about this before your next derrogatory post: if you spent less time tearing others down, you'd have more time to improve yourself.

Karl:

I hope so. Do you fax from a PC, or stand alone fax machine. If PC based, what software are you using?

Sorry for the "off topic"

And for the rest of you critical of the critical remarks leveled at R.P., since R.P. isn't accessible, one can only draw a direct correlation with those he or his chief of staff select to interact with the public on his behalf.

Sorry, but as far as I'm concerned, R.P.'s part of the problem... he's been there far too long with not much to show for his sucking on the publc teet.

Hmmmm... your entire statement of his purpose in office heavily contradicts what someone inspiring others should be. You cannot lead someone to become Superman unless you lead by example. Nearly everyone in office is a sayer and not a doer. How does that help or inspire anyone.

When Superman meets his archvillain in combat and has to save the world does he tell the world what he would like to do or does he throw himself into it with little regard for himself and ultimately stands for something tangible and inspirational?

Your defense of the guy sickens me and, although I was a big supporter of his and would be again if he showed himself as a hero, now I see him as someone who will just step aside when the truck is barreling down on the poor child in the road. When the accident happens he will write and talk about what went wrong and how others can stop the accident from happening in the first place.

As for what I've done in my life I don't need to answer to a punk like you. I spend my day working to save millions of lives and improve the quality of life of those around me. I work everyday to make myself a better person so my child has someone to be proud of. She's the one I have to answer to in life and not some dimwitted forum troll!

It would be damning if there was any obligation at all to respond to every correspondence, no matter how inane or openly hostile to the Congressman. Would Senator Obama need to respond to inquiries from the klan in the name of 'caring about his constituents'?

But it would be damning (if I stipulate that the supposed offense is in fact an offense) of the Chief of Staff - not directly to Paul. The reflection on his judgment in selecting the person for COS would be another matter to be hashed out separately (If I stipulated that Karl's pet project was in fact a real slight - I don't).

I appreciate that you are using logical constructs to make your points. You're clearly not one of the pathetic rabble - regardless of your ultimate viewpoint on Dr. Paul. I may think you're wrong, but you're not spouting bumper-sticker junk, and you should be commended. It seems to be a rarity when discussing the subject matter at hand.

No thanks. You aren't my type, to be sure.

I quake in my boots at your clear mental superiority. Your arguments are so compelling and scholarly..... how can I resist capitulating????

As for being sanctimonious..... I wouldn't expect that you would like the fact that I can logically defend my positions.... but that is hardly sanctimony. Spend a little time figuring out why you believe what you believe, and you too can avoid wandering aimlessly through a logical debate. Don't confuse a grasp of logical process with sanctimony - even if both make you feel wholly inadequate to engage me in an actual debate. Your comments are illustrative of how the collective here deals with anyone who doesn't suspend their own intellect to bow to the universal mind.....

Quote:

You apparently don't know that he refuses to participate in the 'perks' congress votes for themselves. That's right - even the free money of the pension plan..... It's a matter of principle. All he gets is the pay - not meager wages, but hardly top-dollar for a doctor.

You wail about his 'lack of accomplishment', but that would assume that to have accomplishments he would need to have legislative victories to 'accomplish'. The fact is, we don't recognize enacting new laws (definitionally a reduction in the rights available to the people) as victories - quite the opposite. He is a lone force for liberty, and the fact that he won't make compromises on principle (it's okay to squander stolen money as long as some of it goes for my pet project....) is what endears him to those that really love liberty - real liberty..... not the liberty to follow the instructions for conducting our daily lives that come from the central planning committee.

His intransigence in the face of the overwhelming pressure to join the pragmatic crowd with no moral center is not illustrative of vice or avarice. It is illustrative of his character.

All right I'll try to explain this one more time and then I give up. I would like to point out that I am not an Austrian Economist. I happen to own "Man,Economy and State" because I thought the Austrians might have some answers to all the problems I see in the economy.
On page 775 it says, "Not only does government lack a successful test for picking out the proper experts, not only is the voter necessarily more ignorant than the consumer, but government itself has other inherent mechanisms which lead to poorer choices of experts and officials. For one thing the politician and the government expert receive their revenues, not from service voluntarily purchased but from a compulsory levy on inhabitants".
Rothbard is saying we have crappy representation. He says the most successful government officials are bureaucrats "who curry favor with the leading politicians". Barney Frank perhaps.
I cannot respect a politician who does not want to hear from his constituents when "coercive intervention" on a massive scale is going on within the Federal Reserve with their new policy of exchanging Treasuries for worthless securities. If he will not entertain complaints about this, then he is part of the coercion.
I still read Lew Rockwell in the forlorn hope that someone will explain how gold can back the currency when there is a finite amount of gold and an ever growing economy.

It is not that you can't logically support your point to your satisfaction, it's how you do it that rubs me the wrong way.

So you don't seek to refute any of my points.... you just don't like to see the points of your fellow travelers decimated.... I can understand. It is never fun to have your core beliefs shown to be a filthy, empty sepulcher. If you can't defend your positions, all you have left is to attack the manner in which your tenants are obliterated.

He is the only member of Congress to return discretionary funds for the conduct of their offices on a regular basis. He understands that it is not his money, and acts as a good steward of what he's been entrusted. Like it or not, the funding of congressional offices is constitutionally appropriate.

If we can get rid of the whole lot of them - and replace them with nothing (or a weakened 'articles of confederation' sort of assembly), then I'd gladly send the good doc packing - and he'd be ecstatic to be going home under those conditions. I wouldn't want him to abdicate his seat so that the war-mongering caricature who ran against him (Chris Peden - who got absolutely THUMPED) in the primary could have the seat - we need a voice for limited government in Washington, and if he leaves, we lose that.

I have no specific comment on the rest of your post - though it is an interesting glimpse into your psyche. You seem to have a fixation with sexual themes, and I note they always refer to male on male contact. Interesting - and made more so in light of your avatar..... chicks with dicks, eh...... Oh please.

Ron Paul uses earmarks just like the rest. He's even "kinda proud" of it.

Further, none of these asshats publish their office budgets. It ought to be on their web pages, but its not. Of course he's one of 435 in that regard, but.....

You have no voice for limited government in Washington DC. Ron Paul had every opportunity to skull**** Bernanke, Dimon and Geither on The Hill.

For someone who has railed about how The Fed is illegal, you'd think he would have said so about the Bear Bailout.

Oops.

KD,

Was that Oops as in you just realized what a hypocrite you're being?

Or Oops as in you realize that just because Ron Paul won't let you stick your hand up his butt and move his lips that's not a valid reason to rank on him?

Perhaps instead of a humble, quiet, principled statesman he should be your personal wind up doll that at your direction "skull****s" anyone you designate?

What is the White Paper?
And are you going to blame Ron Paul for the acts of his staff?

I think something like that happened like six months ago and then when Dr. P found out he got rid of the guy.

And I think he shoulda lit into Bernanke, too. That kinda*****ed me off.

Odendin, The White Paper is linked off the top of every page here on the forum.

Am I going to hold him accountable for the acts of his staff? Absolutely. He employs them. If he finds those acts unacceptable he is free to fire said staff and communicate directly with me to rectify the position expressed.

Until he does, when his staff tells me that this is his position, it is.

Ron Paul's fax machine aside........

Just out tonight (6pm) at a nice Western Portland "Cal-Mex" Cantina restaraunt. Last year at 6pm, there was usally a 45 wait to be seated --- tonight -- half the tables at 6pm-6:15pm were empty. This is not a high end restaraunt -- but an affordable mid-range one.

As others in Seattle on this board have pointed out, the NW has been slow to catch up to this recession, but over the past 2-3 months, it has become much more visible here.

Circpros,

so, this is how R.P. operates, he releases the pillow biting poodle posse to push the R.P. campaign points.

As far as refuting your "points", they don't warrant my energy. If your "points" were valid and they resonated with the voting masses, R.P. would be where McCain is now. But he is not. He couldn't even get a debate invitation when it mattered. You've chosen to align yourself with a candidate who could not communicate his "vision" effectively, and I'm sorry you've suffered such a public humiliation by your association. Now it's time to get a life.
