C'mon, Karl, it's "Haaah-vahd".

No doubt, Bernanke inspired the next generation of Harvard MBAs to imagine new ways to cheat and steal. He should have taken Harvard's motto, "Veritas", to heart and told the truth.

"...The Fed has intentionally ignored price inflation for the last several years,..."

Denninger,
Damn, man, the Fed supports itself by defending the

FRACTIONAL RESERVE system

and the

CREATION OF MONEY through DEBT.

That calls for "growth"/inflation.

YOU support both--fractional reserving AND debt-as-money/money-as-debt.

Your refrain is tired Mountain.

You've run this horse**** a dozen times in different threads.

You have been challenged to provide a workable alternative and have failed to do so.

Those who whine and bitch without presenting an alternative are not interested in solutions.

Maybe Ron Paul doesn't want to receive fax spam from people who think his office secretary should know how to set up a FreeBSD fax-to-email server so he can wade through angry form letter spam originating from a non-constituent condemning him for voting against spending that will pass anyway, and that whatever minimal patronage he gives to his constituents makes him worse than Ted Stevens because it's hypocritical.

Maybe it's just me. Don't let me stop the ranting fun.

Yeah ok. More twisting of the truth.

"The Truth" being that it was HIS CONSTITUTENTS TRANSMISSIONS HE IS REFUSING.

As noted originally, now "who pays the bill to send it" is the determining factor?

Yeah, right.

You had your one Stock. You read the warning in this thread. I'm not kidding and I'm not in the mood for the Ron Paul idiot invasion.

Perhaps I should just ban anyone who supports him. After all, that's my right just like its his, right?

Oh boy wouldn't THAT set off the whiners.

Hypocrisy? Perhaps. When one has conflicting objectives, hypocrisy is often inevitable. I believe it is valid to argue that if Paul is to serve his constituents' interests, and he believes they are over-taxed, he should try to return some of that tax money to his district. I could buy into that argument, if the government were only spending tax revenues. But, of course, it is spending money it doesn't have by borrowing. So, in effect, some of the earmark money is being added to the national debt, which I cannot condone.

So what have we learned? I guess we now know that Ron Paul is a politician. Surprise, surprise. Politics is about compromise (even on your own principles), hopefully to achieve what you believe is the greatest good (practically) for your constituents, and scratching backs. Paul probably has a different view of what the greatest good is from many on this board. Unfortunately, when everyone tries to "get theirs" (for their constituents), everyone is going to lose in the end. The Achilles heal of our little republic. At least (I think) Paul refains from quid quo pro antics.

Hypocrite? I have to agree. But, one with good intentions, I would argue.

For crying out loud, LC, do you really have to use the "N" word?

What is your definition for it, anyway? Perhaps there is a word you can use that is a little less inflammatory for African-Americans?

Shame on me for reading the forums at work, I guess. I'm a TF junkie, and I need help! The profanity filter is now on.

Just a spelling/grammar note: you might want to spell the word "leach" as "leech", as "leech" is the more accepted spelling.

Gen,
Not at all against the personal SS accounts in theory, but with the crap in the financial markets, I'm concerned that those making solid personal choices (e.g. 'conservative' investments) will still get wiped out. How many folks right now have time bombs in their 401(k)s disguised as 'safe' and 'preservation of capital'?

Before we can even consider these accounts, we have to clean out our financial markets and make true accountability (duh, I'm preaching to the pastor). And, given our current Congress appears to be bought and paid for (or at least far more interested in various 'sports scandals), the best way to do this now while we wait to vote every incumbent out in the fall, is to pull our money out and sit in cash and/or short the hell out of everything that moves. And to tell every person we see to do the same.

Yelling at Congress is like yelling at a wall. We need a financial Boston Tea party.

I'm a diabetes biochemist in my day job and you actually nailed it on diet and lifestyle being a big cause of Type II. You could lower type II occurance by way more than 60% by changing your eating habits and getting more exercise but drugs are easier for the end user.

Well, I finished reading the ticker, and even as a Paul apologist, I put this it up there with the best. I hope we, as a nation, eventually learn that forced charity through taxes just doesn't work. Charity should come from your own family, friends, church (temple, mosque, etc.) and neighbors. They will probably help you through the tough times, if you screw up (or are just too poor to have insurance), but they a probably not going to let you turn into a leech. Beyond, responding to large-scale acts of God (earthquakes and hurricanes, pretty much) the Federal government should be out of the helping hand business.

Bravo, Karl.

Ron Paul has a legion of technically proficient supporters so it is amusing that he operates his office with such ancient hardware. Equally amusing: the first half of the ticker bashes the strongest advocate of personal responsibility for something totally irrelevant, and the last half of the ticker wonders why "leech****s" are taking over the country.

the really sad thing is that people who are responsible, educate themselves, work hard, save money and make intelligent decisions are penalized instead of rewarded in this system. and they find themselves in competition everywhere they go with funds taken from them.

The sad thing is we don't learn from history. Up until the 1950's for instance, african-americans had the lowest percentage of single-parent households and were climbing out of poverty at the fastest rate. We poured money at the so-called problem by declaring a war on poverty and now look at what has occurred. Poverty up and african-americans have the highest percentage of single-parent families.

We threw money at the medicare/medicaid problem in 1965 and what did that get us. The elderly before 1960 were spending approximately 10% of their income on healthcare even though there was no such program as medicare. Today even though they are "covered" by medicare they are spending over 10% of their income on healthcare.

Let's not forget the lessons we supposedly learned from the depression. We were told by our teachers that banks would never be able to take such undo risk again. Looks like that was another lesson we didn't learn.

I guess the only thing Gen forgot to rant against today is our gov't run schools. They don't educate but they do just what the government has set them out to do: Dumb us down so we can no longer critically think. In that regards they are very successful.

The problem is that the baseline for social support has constantly rose. It's no longer 3 squares and a roof over your head that you could get when things got hard; it's a fine apartment, loads of stamps and a flat-screen TV. Kids have to have Nikes and an X-Box otherwise the other kids will laugh at them. smiley We've stigmatized being poor so now we "have" to pay out our teeth to make sure no one feels bad.

I grew up in rural Western PA during the 70s and early 80s. All the companies were shutting down or downsizing. The welfare state I saw rose to help transition folks, but the problem was that most folks didn't make (mainly didn't want to make) the transition. Many of the folks I knew who were on the dole (and there were quite a number) had side jobs 'under the table' and had extra kids so they could get more money. Extra food stamps and 'welfare cheese' was sold for cigs and booze. The bars would be packed on Welfare Tuesday.

And people like my parents, who either didn't qualify or were too proud, were the ones buying the cheese and stamps at a 30% discount so they could afford food for themselves. Funny how that works.

What we're seeing now, and why I think Obama is so popular, is that the average working stiff knows that the welfare bums get better health care and more of a safety net than they do, but they get stuck with the bill. J6P figures if they're picking up the tab, that they might as well stand in line at the buffet.

It's a very unhealthy and destructive situation.
