Even though I've been reading this forum since early October, I still have lots of holiday cheer - so much so that I'm planning a small holiday party at our home. My husband, on the other hand, is full of Bah, Humbug. This has become a fun fued between us with me coming up with a new recipe each day for our upcoming party while he comes up with yet another excuse as to why he'll be unable to attend! smiley

So what camp are you in, full of holiday cheer or bah humbug? Have a recipe or excuse to share??

I love this time of year. It's a time for me to live on the breakwater, here in the sound, and I watch the harbor seals, and the different birds that migrate from alaska. it's very beautiful.
i think this time of year is a time to be with yourself, and family, and draw the people you love close to you. thats scary for some. be patient with those who are afraid, there's so many memories that are emotional.

as for receipes, we have the best lemon french toast, with cinnamon very year, during christmas breakfast.

i love the peace of this time of year, where nature, and life sleeps.

LOL.

I love winter, absolutely. I love the visual austerity, severity even. I love the temps, good hiking :)

Christmas? I love it when I'm around kids...but that's about it.

New Year's? Fuggedaboudit. I've hidden from that jacked-up hysteria since I was a teenager ;)

Meh.

I lost most of the interest I had in Christmas years ago. What little I retain is centered on my son.

Do I really need to get together with family that ignores me for the rest of the year? I think not.

I'm enjoying this year's lights. It seems many have outdone last year, sort of defiance against the cratering of the economy. Personally, I've avoided much of the fanfare since 2005. I will enjoy being home doing little things around the house that I've put off all year due to school and finding time to visit friends that aren't on my daily commute. I have done the office luncheon, have done and will do the avocation parties and will dine with a good friend on Christmas day. I will attend another close friend's 50th. I won't do the cooking since relatives will be elsewhere and I won't do the decorating because the house needs help with real stuff and my time is limited.
