Talented seamstress/clothing designer looking for work.

Tired of the selection of Jr. Hooker clothing for your girls?

Looking for a special gift?

Would you like quality items made in the USA, by an American? All work is done by me in my home studio, never sent out to cheap labor.

How about a product where the manufacturer stands behind their work?

I have over 40 yrs experience in women and children's clothing. I also do home decor items. I work with the customer on an individual basis and I will always repair/replace/refund on any item where the quality or workmanship is not satisfactory.

For a look at some samples of my work:

You probably either already know this, or don't want to mess with it. But there are (relatively) lots of weird people that dress up as their favorite comic book, tv or anime characters and go to science fiction conventions. Some of the costumes are very well made. You might consider looking into that and posting some adverts in the appropriate places. "cosplay" should get you started if you google that.

Thanks for the compliments. It always feels nice to hear.

Steph, my heart goes out to you on that one. I enjoyed dressing both of my girls, and it takes time & work to iron them, but they are little such a short time. I wish my daughter felt that way. The little girl at the begining and end of the video is my only grandaughter and my daughter will not even be bothered to take care of the clothes or do photos for me of the baby in them. I would just as soon give things away to some young woman who will care for them then sends things to someone who will not. I made some things for a young woman with no money and one little girl who lived near us - 18 yrs later she still has the dresses saved!

Venkman, thanks for the tip. I will look into the costumes. I'm pretty much a live & let live type, so as long as they are willing to pay for my time, it might be fun and challenging.

I have two boys. The oldest is 17 and the youngest is 6. I got away with dressing them in cute things for only a short time.

I'm a real girly girl. If I'd have been blessed with a daughter, she'd have been non-stop ribbons, bows and just the kind of dresses you make.

It makes me sick to see the way some parents dress their little girls - I've seen 3-year olds with imitation teen/adult clothing. It's just wrong. Parents should promote innocence as long as possible, IMHO. They can dress like ho's when they're adults.

I've got to second Venkman's suggestion. Cosplay enthusiasts spend thousands on their costumes -- anyone with talent and interest can probably find some fun and profitable projects. On the downside, you'll probably have to go the conventions....

Thanks again for the heads up on the Cosplay. I've spent a little time looking at the competition and this could be very profitable work. I'm certainly going to investigate this more and see what it will cost me to work into it.

Hi Gmf, would you consider doing costumes for one-of-a-kind dolls? These dolls are a little bit, um, out of the mainstream (NOT pretty LOL), and their clothing requires a lot of imagination and creativity. I'm a great sculptor and designer, but a ****ty seamstress ;)

If you're interested I'll post a couple of pics (including the one I'm working on now), and we can talk further.

Thanks :)

I am certainly intersted. Thank you. The only line of sewing work I will not do is "pagent" clothing. I find tarting up little girls just too creepy.

Dolls, anything is fair game, lol.

Wow, Madeline, I am a dressmaker in Hawaii and do similar designs mixing Aloha print fabrics with mainland type prints. It's fun and whimsical. I love your use of colors and patterns!
Mostly, though, I do alterations of bridal and formal to keep the food in the pantry and the electric meter rolling. And..once in awhile I get to design something for somebody.
Thanks for putting your youtube show up, that was FUN.
