Out of work in the Las Vegas area, and looking for a really easy job?

We need a tech support person in Las Vegas. It's pretty cutting edge, brand new place, all open source VoIP and Wifi, perfectly designed, switched fiber optic network with another small operation close to the airport. We don't have a single copper phone line on the premises, not even for faxes. We use thin clients and Citrix VDIs.

Here's the deal, and I will put it plainly because every person I have hired out here just does not seem to get it.

I design all of our **** so I don't have to employ people at the out locations. Your job is to come in every morning, check out the operator log, check an automated report that comes to you every day detailing which phones and access points are not responding, check out the problems, and if it's past a reboot, call in to the NOC and detail the problem. Take a look at the server room once per day to make sure there are no idiot lights on. Once per day, walk through every department and ask if anyone needs help. Show them where the start button is, how to use the right mouse button, and generally be their buddy.

Past that, sit in your office, take every Microsoft certified curriculum online course you want, and once in a while, act like you give a **** and provide user training for garbage like Windows, Word, Excel, etc.

There are going to be times when you may have to exert some effort, like moving stuff for people and deploying new equipment as we open buildings.

Lastly, if I am going to employ a person at a remote site, be my eyes and ears. Don't let anything get out of hand. Document what you do. Don't let some turd roll downhill at me and catch me off guard when I employ someone at a remote site for nearly that sole purpose.

Pay is around 40-42k per year. Easy money. Perfect if you are new in the IT business and just got some certifications, or if you are unemployed and don't mind becoming one of the underemployed.

What a great job description -- if you posted this on Craiglist -- it would make the "best of" list.

He said the position was filled internally but if you sent him a resume he could keep it on file. I do not believe he is in Vegas currently but I may be mistaken.

Thanks Archaen. I would have been an underemployed employee but since I did not see any post by Mezzmor that the position was filled I thought I would check it out. Make my trip to Vegas a tax deduction for the job interview.
