If the opposition is actually successful in bringing down Gaddafi, the third regime in as many months, the Genie is truly out of the bottle throughout the entire Middle East. Three long term multi-decade dictatorships collapsing in weeks like so many house of cards. The motivation for mass movements by entire societies and populations to make their move now is rapidly becoming irresistible because of perceived likelihood that their goals appear very attainable and QUICKLY at that. This is fast becoming a vast scenario of unintended consequences for the entire world and it's social/political and economic foundations. I believe the rubicon may have been already crossed and any number of blow-back crisises are now on the radar for the United States and it's near future economic outlook. Our own house of economic cards may get blown over and soon if energy costs and interest/risk rates are forced into extremes by what is happening there. Monitor and adjust accordingly. Events are fast outpacing the ability to react. Last modified: 2011-02-20 18:30:17 by videopro
