Bcos it costs a lot more to produce American oil than it does in the ME, Russia, etc. The cheap and easy oil in the US has already been exploited and while there is tons more it is more expensive to extract. So from a business point of view like doing your manufacturing in China, getting your oil "abroad" is the answer. I used the quotes bcos most of the imported oil we use does not come from ME, it comes from Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Trinidad, etc. The Europeans and Asians predominantly use ME oil. 2012-01-06 12:19:30
