My son-in-law had a similar experience at work today. Organizational website was down. He checks the server and sees that index.html is empty. So he calls the off-site (American) contractor who handles it. Contractor: Looks good to me SIL: what are you looking at it with? Contractor: DreamWeaver SIL:could you try it in your browser? Contractor: Okay. Could you send me the link? SIL: What? Do you mean the URL? You don't know the URL of the website you're maintaining? Contractor: What's a URL? Later SIL: So, when you have DreamWeaver upload it, what are you using for a host name? Contractor: What's a hostname? Finally after literally walking her click-by-click through doing an FTP upload with filezilla, he got the website working again. Last modified: 2012-01-19 23:13:00 by mediocre_fred
