Jeez I'm so naive. For all my life - up to the last coupla years - I bought into the idea of progress, of "societal evolution". I wanted to believe that yes, somehow, humankind was working its way toward a higher moral plane, that the founding fathers were put on this earth for a very specific reason, that goodness eventually prevails over all, somehow. This stuff about which Gen and others are writing...it's as wrong (can't bring myself to say "evil" at this point) as anyone down thru history could conceive, brought to you wrapped fresh by 24-hour tv and the usual smiling politicians and "personalities". I swear, I've just about reached head-in-the-sand time. Bad sh*t coming down folks, and it's poisoning all of us, from the high-and-mighties to us - US - we who are now perhaps looking at our neighbors thru a slightly different prism, hardening ourselves for what our world might become.
