It is sad to look around at my debt ridden friends who have the exact same income we do. New cars, expensive vacations....
A few months ago I warned my mother to cut back on her spending and pay off her credit cards. I'm worried that her husband may lose his job when commercial RE crashes and they have very little saved. Within two weeks she had booked an expensive cruise. She called me last week and told me they bought TWO new cars. I was very upset and told her that I could not feel good about it because it was a major mistake. She was*****ED. She went on and on about how they got 0% financing. I told her straight out that they have no business buying anything if they can't pay cash. I also told her that I would not buy a new car and I can actually afford it. "But it was zero percent financing," she practically screamed at me.
