From what I can read briefly, some of the points made in the articles have already been discussed in detail in previous threads. From what I remember, there are fundamental assumptions in how things will play out that cause the divergent conclusions that both sides have. For example, one fundamental assumption is whether foreign economies are worse off. Inflationists contend that the USD will tank totally as the US economy tanks as holders of USD initiate a sell off due to lack of trust in the US economy. Deflationists content that while the US economy is bad, the rest of the world is worst, and there will actually be an increase in demand for USD as a flight of safety to USD occurs. I really think we need a FAQ or Table that lists the different positions that Team Cash vs Team Gold have on some of these fundamental assumptions. That way ppl on both sides will not have to continually hit the other side with points based on diff views of the future that really cannot be reconcilled, and ppl will just have to agree to disagree. 2007-12-01 20:57:08
