Steph and Etz, "fractional reserve banking" has been around since the earliest days of the "moneychangers." It is NOT going away. It was in fact what we had on the Gold Standard, it is what there was before the United States, and on and on and on. What has to stop is the scams. All derivatives and other financial instruments need to trade on a public exchange so that pricing is exposed. Balance sheets must be consolidated (no off-balance sheet crap whatsoever.) If you have no bid, then you have no bid - the NPV of that asset is "zero"! Now set Tier Cap requirements and enforce them and you've got a stable system. 2007-12-02 01:39:21
