What is so painful in watching this unfold is remembering how the US constantly told Japan that they needed to close the insolvent banks are write off the losses, before they had any hope of recovery. Yet, now that we are in the exact same position, we are doing exactly what the Japaneese did and are attempting to prop up insolvent institutions and hide the losses.
