I would be careful shorting these guys. Both Cramer and the rating agencies (before they have to update their ratings) have publicly begged the market on multiple occasions to provide them with a capital infusion. I agree that fundamentally these are dogs and should be insolvent but, like Citigroup and Freddie/Fannie, these are the pillars of the current debt/ponzi scheme. The market/Fed/Paulson/vested interest groups (pension funds that have money market fund investments, etc.) won't let these guys go down without a fight. Now, if/when they do receive a capital infusion, a few days after the large pop, they would be excellent shorting candidates.
