I was in Raleigh NC (a city not doing NEARLY as bad as many others) a few weeks ago and in the Hotel Lobby was an entire girls soccer team along with a few of their moms and dads who had finished their game and had the rest of the day off and were contemplating things to do. One girl mentioned shopping and one of the adults went into this big thing about how much fun you can have WITHOUT shopping and WITHOUT spending money.
