I had written him in late November about the Copenhagen conference(actually, I've written him about virtually everything) ...got the reply today. Wonder what prompted this (delayed) response ...

February 17, 2010

Dear Mrs. XXXX:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Climate Summit that President Barack Obama, and several Members of Congress attended in Copenhagen. I appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns with me.

In December, President Obama met with scientists and other world leaders at a conference in Copenhagen to discuss so-called global warming and what measures should be taken to prevent any damage caused by it. The snowy conference resulted in only nominal agreements and little progress, perhaps in light of the recently-uncovered email exchanges that discredited much of the scientific research that serves as the basis for policy changes related to global warming.

Families in our district and across Ohio have far more important concerns on their minds than the President traveling to Europe to pursue a radical environmental agenda. I have offered more spending cuts than any other Member of Congress, and I was the only Member of Congress to introduce a balanced budget in 2009. I hope the President will drop this far-left agenda that will bankrupt American businesses and destroy American jobs, and begin exploring ways to cut spending, balance our budget, and begin paying down the national debt to provide a brighter future for our children and grandchildren.

I hope you will find this information helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any other concerns or questions you may have. You can reach us by phone at (202) 225-2676, or by e-mail through our website at http://jordan.house.gov.

Sincerely,
Jim Jordan
Member of Congress
