Nah hispanics get that title now,the left can abuse them more since there is more of them, the blacks will be called out every now and then and paraded around by the Jacksons,Sharptons,NPR,when fitting and in some demograhic areas.

Juan paints a picture of a pretty fascist organization with this essay.

We're supporting this with our tax dollars...why?

People who are NPR devotees (and there are plenty of them) ought to be able to float this puppy with their own money. Not to mention all the corporate and Big Money that has a vested interest in continuing the propaganda they spew.

NPR did a bang-up job protecting Wall Street, etc. in the run-up to the Credit Market Implosion a few years back. Get some of those interests to chip in and float NPR.

I'll admit I cringed a bit when he said this yesterday on O'Reilly. Maybe I figure any Muslim who's set to blow up a plane isn't going to show up at the airport in full garb, thereby drawing attention to themselves...

But they just did a poll on FOX to see how people feel about the issue. About 40,000 called in and something like 85% of them agree with Juan Williams. Their gut reaction is fear.

So he's got a lot of company - in spite of those at NPR who insist on sticking their heads in the sand about this matter.

Again, why is tax money going to *any* radio station, let alone one as obviously biased as NPR.

I didnt care for what Juan said either because honestly like you said Ark it doesnt make sense in so far as arab garb.
But Juan hit a more bigger note that the left doesnt like (Multiculturalism)or that the world and peoples are different and no matter how many awareness programs and booklets and happy pills they throw out there it will remain the truth.
Some people dont like living around others, period.

Wow? She said that? Pretty astute there. Not what I expect to come from Palin.

I rarely agree with Williams, but I'll tell you what, he was always a gentleman. You'd never find him in a shout-down with anyone of opposing views.

The man has every right to state his opinion. I have every right to disagree with it, as does his (former) boss, but firing him because of his statement of opinion is a clear failure to respect the 1st amendment. This action by a purported media outlet is outrageous.

Good for Fox if they pick him up. I'd like to see Williams take take the foil position on Hannity to replace Holmes. Holmes annoyed me because he always gets rude and belligerent and often shouts people down. Hannity does that too, which is why I don't often watch his show - but I might tune in again if he has a good foil like Williams.

Williams was fired because he was no longer serving his purpose as a "useful idiot". Once you have someone like him openly admitting that it is OK to judge others on the basis of their appearance, they no longer serve the function that the left has in mind for them, as guardians of political correctness and their multicultural doctrine.

But what would have happened if Williams were gay, and had made a statement to the effect that being in a room full of born-again Christians made him nervous. He would have been hailed as a hero to the left for sharing his feelings.

@ Zappa - I don't think Williams was saying it was 'okay to judge others by appearance' - I think he was saying that people can't help it if they get scared when they see someone in Muslim garb. It's just reality to have feelings. We see something that triggers an emotional response, and the feelings you get are nothing you truly have control over. You of course, have control over your reactions to those feelings - but the feelings come whether you want them or not.

He was just being honest about his feelings.

"I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, "

This may be the real reason for the firing - he actually called out muslims who dont want to assimilate - sharia law, etc.

Looks like NPR had a whole host of "reasons" to get rid of Juan, and I have no idea what they are. As for Juan, he is just another opportunist who finds his "conscience" just the second after he got fired. He says one thing on NPR and a whole other thing on Fox. I am not NPR, so I did not fire him, but am amazed how suddenly he points out that he is the only black man on NPR and there is no "diversity" now, etc. Always dubious about "diversity" esplly from people who poohpooh it when others use it as an excuse and whine when they find it advantageous. Narrow opportunist. Period.

I agree Midwest, it does annoy the **** out of me when people play the poor taken advantage of minority. That being said I dont think he deserved to be fired just like I dont think the other reporters and radio hosts should of been fired or retired.

I used to listen to NPR a lot but now-a-days it's about 90% thinly veiled propaganda.

So, I'm guessing instead you get most of your news from Fox, which is 100% unveiled propaganda.

Like I said in another thread, Jotapay, you're a ****ing hypocrite.

I heard NPR has a really big problem now that they fired Juan. You see Juan was the token black guy on the payroll. With out Juan, NPR's complete news staff is now a bunch of elitist "White" liberals. Now they have a big diversity problem to explain. Rumors are another Fox contributor Mara Liasson that also works for NPR that her head is also on the chopping block.

This is the e-mail I got yesterday from my Congressional rep, Doug Lamborn:

Quote:
Dear Friends,

You may have heard about the recent firing of NPR News Analyst Juan Williams and the $1.8 million donation by liberal activist George Soros to hire 100 NPR reporters. These two actions make it clear that public broadcasting is a friend and protector of liberal issues and political correctness, at the expense of free speech and balanced news reporting.

The worst part of this story is that American taxpayers are subsidizing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the parent organization to NPR, to the tune of over $420 million dollars in 2010 alone. Congress continues to appropriate funding well beyond the rate of inflation: over the past decade, funding for public broadcasting has risen over 26%.

Although the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is a private, non-profit organization that raises its own funds through other sources, over 13% of its total income is taxpayer money. While the Corporation for Public Broadcasting airs several quality programs, it is perfectly capable of standing on its own two feet and not on the financial shoulders of the American taxpayers. In this struggling economy, families are struggling to make ends-meet while their hard-earned money is being used to subsidize a private organization.

In June, I introduced a bill to defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, NPR's parent company.

So, NPR gets $420 million from the taxpayer. Ok, they probably shouldn't get anything.

But, ****. How does that compare to what we gave AIG, for example?

Isn't this just another convenient distraction from the real issue, the banksters?

When are the Holocaust lawyers going to sue Soros's ass off for his helping the Nazis to send Jews to the gas chambers?

I'm guessing it will be right around the same time the Bush administration is tried for looting (or at the very least being complicit in same) our country and killing millions of innocents in the Middle East.

Ahhh, Fox is a breath of fresh spring air wafting into my nostrils. A respite from the stench of stale, warmed over progressive claptrap piled high in one large steaming heap of dairy cow manure waiting to be spread on the fields of the heartland and disolved into the good earth.

Millions huh? Where exactly pray tell? I don't mean which country I want to know where and when millions were killed. Have you been there? I spent nearly a year in one of their (Iraqi) biggest cities out in town EVERY DAY. I didn't see dozens in a year. Please describe where you got this number.

Mooreshawnm, you are correct, I made an error. I was thinking "thousands" but screwed up and typed "millions." You are justified in calling me on it. I am not sure, however, that the actual number makes this unnecessary and conjured up war any more legitimate.

I stand by the meaning I was going for and the rest of the statement.
