Guydaley Posts: 15320 Incept: 2007-07-10 Wyoming only ATM Banned	Letter in response to Rawlins article about subsidizing golf course restaurant The question Bridget Manley, author of the article asked, "Should the city be subsidizing the golf course restaurant"? That's an absurd question. If it were ever brought to a vote before the residents of the City of Rawlins, it would be a landslide vote AGAINST. How is this travesty allowed to continue, that's the bigger question. The entire golf course enterprise should be sold, auctioned, DISPOSED of as the great albatross it is. How dare any leadership in this city continue this masquerade that golf is a boon to this community and the cost be borne by all the citizens despite the fact that most of them will never, EVER set foot on that property. I've been here 4+ years and I went out there once, solely to find out what it was that Rawlins taxpayers were footing the bill. Its a massive fraud, that has only persisted because the citizens of Rawlins are too apathetic to stand up and voice their opinion. Common sense would dictate this since the golf course is shut down for a major portion of the year anyway!!!! If one individual were to step up, pledge to end this travesty and use that as one of the planks in their campaign, they would probably win their election. This would be an example of financial management in its truest form. Financial management, pshaw, the entire idea is completely foreign to the mayor, the city council and in particular, the city manager. I have more examples than the local paper is going to print at any one time. ---------- Its called creeping TEOTWAWKI. In your book, were our local government to stop subsidizing the golf course, it still wouldn't be a step in the right direction. Its all or nothing.
