Libya unrest: Over 200 killed, Gadaffi's son says won't let go
Associated Press, Updated: February 21, 2011 09:23 IST

Quote:
After anti-government unrest spread to the Libyan capital and protesters seized military bases and weapons Sunday, Moammar Gadhafi's son went on state television to proclaim that his father remained in charge with the army's backing and would "fight until the last man, the last woman, the last bullet."

Seif al-Islam Gadhafi, in the regime's first comments on the six days of demonstrations, warned the protesters that they risked igniting a civil war in which Libya's oil wealth "will be burned."

Quote:
"We are not Tunisia and Egypt," the younger Gadhafi said. "Moammar Gadhafi, our leader, is leading the battle in Tripoli, and we are with him."

"The armed forces are with him. Tens of thousands are heading here to be with him. We will fight until the last man, the last woman, the last bullet," he said in a rambling and sometimes confused speech of nearly 40 minutes.

More from the Telegraph Live

14.28 Bruno Waterfield, The Telegraph's man in Brussels, tells me: "Diplomats here at an EU meeting of foreign ministers are saying that Muammar Gaddafi's regime is close to collapse.

"Officials and diplomats dismissed Gaddafi's threat to break off cooperation with the EU over illegal immigration unless European governments stopped making staments in support of democratic rights for protesters.

"A diplomat said: 'Gaddafi is not in a position to threaten Europe with anything. The regime is fighting for its survival'."

15.04 A coalition of Libyan Islamic leaders issues a fatwa telling all Muslims it is their duty to rebel against the Libyan leadership and demanding the release of all jailed protesters.

Calling itself the Network of Free Ulema of Libya, the group of over 50 Muslim scholars said the government and its supporters "have demonstrated total arrogant impunity and continued, and even intensified, their bloody crimes against humanity.

Libya: BP Evacuates Workers Amid Unrest

2:43pm UK, Monday February 21, 2011

Lisa Holland, foreign affairs correspondent
BP has said it was evacuating families of workers and non-essential staff from Libya in the wake of political unrest.

The company has around 140 staff in total in the country. Most are local employees but the families of some 40 expats are now being helped out.

The evacuation of BP staff also now looks likely.

BP chief executive Bob Dudley said the company was watching the situation closely.

"We have operations there that are very limited, its the early stages of exploration," he said.

Sounds like the Libyan people aren't allowed to own firearms, am I correct? Yet, there they are, apparently being shot at by fighter jets and naval ships from afar, and the shooters are their own gov't.
Funny how well it works when only the gov't can have guns, eh?

Watch this **** people, and learn.
