It would only be more sociopathic if Greenspan said it.

"There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved." Nationally, house prices have plunged about 30 percent in nominal terms from their peak and nearly 40 percent in real, or inflation-adjusted, terms.

Stable prices, eh?

I think the Bernank means housing is 'currently' not seen as a secure investment by the sheeple which is the problem.

I think the bernank couldn't care less what the sheeple think, I think BB is worried that homes are no longer a secure investment for banks to collateralize loans against.

Or, maybe all of the above :)

Bernanke has spent trillions of dollars (that we will have to pay off in taxes)to help save the BIG banks and has NOT spent one thin dime to help save the sheeple.

He definitely does not care - but he's not giving us investment advice in this particular instance.
