As far as I'm concerned, anyone who voluntarily raises their hand and swears out an oath to uphold the law, and then proceeds to make a mockery of the law, needs to be treated harshly. Bad cops, bad judges and bad politicians must be put away for a long time, and I don't mean at Club Fed, such as the country club at Oxford, Wisconsin, where half the crooks in Crook County, Ill. wind up.

Joe, I have seen the enemy and it is us. I have not given in but I am resigned. I am not hopeless but am planning for me and my family to the extent I can. I am learning new skills, stocking some food, medicine etc, buying weapons for the first time in my life and other such activities. If none of this happens, then I have not lost much. In regards to your Bible reference, it has never served me and I sincerely doubt it ever will. If it makes you happy, go for it, just please don't point it in my direction. In a way I am optimistic. I believe that the coming change is necessary, in fact it may lead to the next evolutionary step that civilization needs. It may not, but one can "hope." You see to me, the real life dominant life form on Earth is not man but civilization. Man is a constant, it is society which changes and evolves. I also disagree that we are on the "opposite" sides of the fence. The way I see it is that we are all in the "same boat." I just finished a long conversation with my 93-year-old father-in-law, who hung on every word as I read the ticker aloud to him and his daughter. He was quiet and thoughtful, and then began to speak of the great depression, and his version of the "banking trust" that brought it about. With no offense intended to Mrgone, I have struggled from time to time with the feelings that anything I could do was not enough in the face of this abomination. I have used the ticker forum not only to access news faster than nearly anywhere else on the net, and to listen in on conversations with folks who have VAST knowledge of investment instruments and their use, but also to challenge myself to examine my thesis, to question my frame of reference, to check in on my activity list. Does it support your thesis? Does it have value in the world (and to your family)? CAN YOU DO MORE? I claim no crystal ball, and am genuinely sad at how thoroughly the foundations of our country have been eroded. I don't know what's coming or in what order. But I work every day to starve the beast that is sucking us dry, and show a light in the dark corners occupied by this particular octopus. My Dad was Born in '35. When I first began expressing my alarm over what was happening, probably in 2004/05, told him a Depression was coming ... he told me "it couldn't happen because it never had." I was speechless ... he was born in 1935. I know good and darn well that discussion of the Depression permeated his childhood because his Mom & Dad loved to tell stories about it and I loved to hear them. How could he say that the Depression couldn't happen because there never had been one? That's how powerful the appearance of this credit induced wealth is ... people even deny their own past because it couldn't have happened. My Mom thinks I'm certifiable. I do get pretty intense. Anyway, she says she's not worried about any Depression because she went through that already and everything was just fine. Oi Vei, she was born in 1937. Her contribution to helping her family through the Depression was soiling diapers ... but somehow she thinks actually lived and contributed through it. That's my family.

The line I've been getting now is, "it doesn't matter." People aren't going to change their lives because something "might happen." Since I can't peer into my cauldron and say that there will be violence in the streets, famine, destitution, theft, and murder, there is somehow no point in even discussing it. I'm bringing everyone down and they are tired of it. Thank God for you people here.

Thanks for the kind words, Widgeon. I honestly never know for sure which posts (if any) will have the impact I intend. Glad that something has struck a chord. Grandpa took me into his room a few minutes ago, and unearthed about 5,000 rounds of ammunition to go with the 12 guns in the cabinet. He offered one of the shotguns and a case of ammo to take out to the RV. He's taking this one pretty seriously. Hope I haven't stirred up a hornet's nest with his other offspring (the ones that don't live here.) But I am seriously considering his generous offer. (Oh, and my nephew just called with an offer to refill any and all of our 'brass' with his equipment. Good kid. Awesome ticker. Can i comment only on the Obama cert thing? The real question is not if it is in the doc,. It is importnat only if it hides something. It could just be a mistake. obviously the typist was a sandwich short of a picnic. Running with that as proof that he is not eligible is tin-foil. The question is if it is true that he is not eligible. If he is uncertifiable, then he should be removed. There is a court case coming up in cali in jan 2010, right?
