So you're only looking at the micro to low mili Curie range. These aren't for generating the output radiation, but for simulating signal from the patient that the detector sees. You could get hurt from holding such a rod, eating it, or being in the same room long term, but this is nowhere near powerful enough for a dirty bomb. 2010-11-26 12:10:16 Permalink

You can bet that if someone fragmented one of those things and put it in an explosive device so that the rad detectors clicked (even if only somewhat) the FEAR reaction that would generate would be massive.
